  1. Hey, some folks pay big money to have their new guitars look like that 😀. Perfect guitar for the urban roots singer/songwriter who wants the image of having lugged it around the country while living on hobo stew.
  2. My Heritage Custom. In those days I had to sell something if I wanted to buy something else. No regrets on the HD-28 I bought, but I do wish I could have kept the Gibson.
  3. The pickguard on my HD-28 has lifted and wrinkled. My granddaughter goes to KU; planning to visit soon and take it in to Mass Steet Music to have it fixed. I know they can remove and latten it but I'm thinking of seeing about some sort of tortoise patten guard to replace the black.
  4. Thanks; cool! My old Dobro-playin' partner has one; his is red with original case. I had it on semi-permanent loan for a while. He'll poop when I send him this to show him the price!
  5. My old pickin' pard sent me this shirt. Truth!
  6. A lady brought my 1924 A-Jr. into the music store I worked at years ago. looking to sell it. It never made it to the sales floor 😄!
  7. Interesting 1st post. Any of them come about as the result of smashing one and getting the factory to replace it?
  8. The intonation on my new Martin HD-28 was way off. I contacted Martin and got a reply from then-head guy Mike Longworth that if I "was offended by normal intonation" I could take it to a luthier." I did just that; Steve Triplett set her up with a compensated saddle and she was just fine. The intonation on my J200 is a little finicky even with the compensated saddle she came with; I've just learned to baby it and live with it.
  9. Anybody tried 'em? I've always switched off between a thumb pick and a flat pick but it would be nice to have the capability of both at the same time. Do they work or is it just another gimmick (I've fallen for them before!)?
  10. Years ago when I worked in a music store we imported these from Germany; we bought and sold them as tortoiseshell (pre ban). I kept a lifetime supply. I've been told since that they aren't tortoiseshell; don't know if they are or not but I love them and I've never used anything else since.
  11. For the kind on money they charge for this stuff that sort of thing is inexcusable. It should never have left the factory like that. Like I said; JMO.
