The tuners would date the guitar to the mid- 1950s to around 1960. The attraction of this one would be these N-1 dreads were X braced. Not a bad price but it sounds like the cost of a neck reset will have to be factored in. You would end up having more in the guitar than it would be worth but that has never stopped a few of us.

Zomby, a pat on the back for collecting, repairing, resurrecting your old guitars. I do the same, and I often put more money into them than I can ever get back, but there is great satisfaction in saving them from the junk heap. Cudos to you!

Thanks for the heads up. I have a friend who owns a 1920s L-2. The guitar is refinished but with violin varnish or something (the owner used to make violins) so it now has the color of a pumpkin top mando which actually looks pretty good. Anyway it is not for sale but he keeps saying if I want it I can have it for $1800. But I would still need to sell something to buy it and am just no...

Zomby...this is one of the best condition L-2's I've seen in a LONG while.....They had it posted at $3500, so the price is lowered, and there is a "make offer" box....still pretty pricey, but it is in great condition with all original parts....just FYI, I don't know this guy from Adam.....

Funny, I can't stop drooling over your Gibson. I have come close to picdking up another one of those more times than I can count but the deal always seems to fall through.
I might actually have a case for your Gibson. I don't really know how old it is but it is covered with a lacqured tweed and was obviously made for a round bottom archtop.

    Hey Mr. Fool,
The May-Belles were made by Slingerland. While these days they are known for drums back in the day Slingerland made some of the sweetest archtops around which easily rivaled anything coming out of Gibson or Epiphone. The official name of mine is a May-Bell Style 75 Violin Craft. The line was introduced in 1933. The Slingerland catalog states the guitars was hand rubb...

Zomby, did Kay make that May-Belle Style 75 (made by Slingerland)???? The wood looks amazingly like the wood on my Kay K-20 "f" hole!

    Well Hello Mr. Fool.
Many thanks. I think you and I have fairly similar tastes in guitars - we love both the beautiful and the profane. It was hard as heck to resist a script logo LG. To sweten the deal, the guy I got it from threw in a truss rod cover off a 1959 Gibson which I am going to use to replace the repro cover I have on my J-200.
    Peace On You Bro.
