  1. In Topic:2014 ES Les Paul vs. 2016 ES Les Paul???

    19 August 2017 - 07:28 PM

I ended up getting the 2014 & it was beautiful sounding Guitar. The Pickups sound almost as good as the original '59 PAF's that were on my old '59 ES345. At least from memory. I can't say that about the past several Gibson's I've owned.

However, upon close inspection there were some funny looking refilled & poorly refinished Holes in the Headstock that shouldn't be there.

The more I played it the more I could see them & the more it bothered me. I could envision when I go to sell or trade this Guitar at some point, as I go thru a lot of Guitars, potential Buyers thinking something was wrong & wanting to pay nothing for it.

So I called my Sales Rep & they were great. They said they have another one coming in on Aug. 18, 2017 & reserved it for me.

I called yesterday as it was the 18th. Wasn't showing that it arrived.

I've been thru some really long waits for Guitars in the past & one that after 8 months never showed up at all. I said never again!!!

I'll give them a couple days but after that my loyalty is with me.

In your experience how punctual is Gibson on Delivery Dates to their Dealers? Any feedback is appreciated. Should my Dealer have a Tracking number for Gibson?

    Thanks,

    Lars

    Once many years ago.

When my Mom passed away. I sat down & wrote a Song titled "Another Day". I still can't play it without tearing up.

After that I've tried to write impersonal upbeat stuff.

I've owned my 75 D-35 since new. They just sound better & better as they age.

Of all my Guitars it is the only one I will never sell.

CCongrats to you! Enjoy & play it like you stole it!

And we've come a long way.

I don't know about that being true for the World but it's certainly true for Guitars!
  5. In Topic:How many records can one guy be on?

I caught this Article in Vintage Guitar about a guy named Bob Bain. I'd never heard of him. But I've heard some of the hundreds of Records he played on. It's a bit long but a good read. Some of his lengthy Discography is at the end.

One of his Guitars was featured on the Cover. That's what drew me in. I've since modded a version of that Guitar for myself.

    Enjoy,

    Lars

How do you like your Texan? I got mine on resting on a Guitar Stand sitting across from my Gibson J160E. I play them both equally. The Texan is great! Love it.

Hi just to let you know that it was your thread that encouraged me to get the Texan. Thanks
