  1. Usually you can get better deals from Stores like Sweetwater, MF or others..
  2. I’ve been looking at getting another Acoustic. I’m pretty familiar with most makes & most price ranges.. For my preference I’ve narrowed it down to Gibson, Martin or Guild.. A Dreadnought 6 string.. A D-28 is one of them that’s high on my list.. I’ve been to quite a few Stores & have played several. They’re all great! Recently I went to a Recording Session at a friends house.. He has a really nice Collection of Guitars too.. He had just got a D-28.. I tried it out & was so impressed. It sounded great & played like buttah! It played easier than any of the D-28’s I’ve tried.. I asked him what he did.. He took it to the same Luthier that Sets up all my Electric Guitars.. He did the usual Truss Rod adjustment.. He also removed the Shim Martin puts under the Saddle, filed the Nut Slots to perfection & Dressed the Frets.. Lubricated & tightened the Tuners as well.. As well as a quality new Set of Strings.. 11’s or 12’s… My friend said he told our Luthier to take his time & get it the way he’d want it.. It took a couple weeks.. I am pretty good at doing Set ups & do a lot of my own if I have the time.. But, when I get my next Acoustic it will go to my Luthier.. Moral of the story, don’t underestimate a great Set up.
  3. Don’t make the mistake thinking a new or used Guitar you buy at any price is going to automatically have a magic Set up. If it did chances are it wouldn’t be for sale. Although, there are some nice Used ones out there somewhere that pop up once in a while.. A new Gibson, Martin, Guild, Collings, Taylor or whatever come with basic Setups leaving room for the buyer to fine tune it to their Specs.. A Master Luthier can be a big assist in properly Setting up whatever Guitar you get.. Regardless of cost.. They may be able to do wonders with the Guitars you already have.. In my experience higher end Guitars usually play easier & sound superior.. There’s always the exception but in my experience they’re rare.. But, Sound is subjective.. What sounds amazing to one person is like finger nails scratching a Blackboard to others.. And everything in between.. Good luck finding your Guitar…
  4. Here’s their Phone number.. Give them a Call.. Phone: (406) 556-2100 This is from 2023.. https://owningagibson.com/visit-the-gibson-factory-in-bozeman-montana/
  5. I have several Acoustics as well. I have 2 that are my favorites. One is my 2001 Gibson Bozeman Masterbilt J-160E Solid Top.. One of the best looking & sounding Gibsons I’ve ever played.. The other is my 1975 Martin D-35. It has always sounded & played great.. It has aged beautifully & just keeps sounding better.. Best of both Worlds.. Mahogany & Rosewood… But, I am very interested in trying a new USA California built Guild D-55E..
  6. I’ve just finished writing songs, performing & recording a new Surf Album with my brothers old High School Surf Band, “The Redondos”.. All original new Original Surf songs that pay Tribute to the Surf Bands of the 60’s… We are putting the Artwork which was done by our old High School friend who is a very talented Photographer and Artist.. We will be packaging it up & sending it out for Pressing CD’s & some Vinyl Albums.. We will release it through CDBaby & their Distribution with ITunes, Amazon & many other Stores.. It has been a long time coming for this Album.. It has fulfilled my brother & his friends dream from long ago.. I’m glad I was invited to play along.. Here is a Video one of my other brothers & a friend made featuring an Instrumental Surf Tune I wrote & performed, “Surftopia”, the title song of the Album…
  7. I’ve always wondered what the Finish actually is.. I have Copy of the original Epiphone Product & Spec Sheet from their old website back Whalen they were in Production but it doesn’t say what was used.. Would Polish or Wax would change the Finish?
  8. Correct.. Though Poly seems like it would be a Gloss finish. Right? I own an IBJL Revolution Casino. It has a Flat Natural Satin or Matte finish..
  9. Agree a 335, 345 or 355 are essential. So are LP Std’s with HB’s & LP Goldtop’s with P90’s.. And Firebird 5’s &7’s.. Add a LP Jr or LP Special with P90’s & you got some serious stuff happening!
  10. I own a Epi Inspired By John Lennon Revolution Casino.. I bought it new & it’s completely stock original.. It has USA Gibson P-90’s, Gold Grover’s, upgraded Electronics, Switchcraft 3 Way Switch & Jack.. It’s really great Guitar! These do not have a Gloss or Semi Gloss Finish. It has Natural Matte Finish.. I didn’t read anything about Nitro finish but I believe it may be.. I’ve always used a dry Microfiber Cloth & wipe it down.. I’ve been curious about the proper way to clean this unique finish as well.
  11. Really great condition & a real Beauty! I love those old Archtops! Congrats & Enjoy!
  12. I like them all! P90’s are my favorite Pickups. I have a Gibson Les Paul Special with P90’s, an Epiphone USA Casino, a Epiphone Revolution Casino, a 50th Anniv. 1961 RI. Casino all have Gibson USA P90’s.. A great group of fantastic Guitars. Each slightly different sounding but all beautiful.. I also have a MIC Epiphone Casino I recently upgraded with Fralin P-90’s & Mojotone 500k Electronics Pots, Caps with Switchcraft 3 Way Switch & Jack.. It’s Sound is right up there with the others.. They make me happy!
  13. I’m sorry to hear your Wife passed away.. I can’t even imagine.. May that new Guitar bring you some peace & joy.. God Bless.
