  1. I've been told that my following question is answered at least twice a day on this forum so I guess this is the place to ask it. So here goes... One of my 70's Gibson Dove guitars appears to have never had a paper sound hole label. There's no trace at all of any glue residue. It's pristine wood in the area where it would normally be. I've seen quite a few Dove guitars over time with the same, and usually 70's models. Anybody notice that as well, I emailed Gibson a while back and got no info. Also my guitar has the smaller serial number font stamping, just wondered what year that was changed and if that has something to do with the lack of a label ... My guitar is not a fake and the guitar is not stamped a '2'. I have the original bill of sale and the owners Gibson warranty card. The condition of the guitar is near to mint with pretty much no trace of play wear .... Not even tarnish on the case latches! The original owner took extremely good care of it so it really makes no sense why the label would fall out or go missing ....... or is it me that's missing something? be nice.......
