I don't believe there is any legislation forbidding fingerpicking any model guitar. As with so many topics it's a personal preference.
I think we often get caught up in being at one with the herd.
I don't know how to do it but if you go on Youtube (The North American Guitar ) you can hear Carl give some insight into how he operates.
I was a bit amazed that he said that for recording he used a Gibson J-45 Vintage more than any other brand (Collings Julian Lage etc.)

I was wondering ... you have , and have had, quite a selection of guitars. Are you ever satisfied and say "that'll do" or is it an itch that can never really be scratched?
Strange that they might not ship to Canada - perhaps they know that Canadians wouldn't be crazy enought to spend that kind of money on a questionable item.
