  1. Personally I would say that the tuning pegs that come with the standard Epiphone casino's don't hold a tune that well. especially if you play a lot of bends. I have tried everything, i have tried various sets of strings, i have made sure that the intonation is well set and have fitted big bends nut sauce. I think that the standard model tuning pegs are simply not very well made, and have a bit of slack in them. Haven just recently brought a new PRS acoustic that has PRS tuning pegs that are really well made and tight. I can notice a massive difference in how the PRS keeps its tuning when compared to the Epi Casino. I believe it is definitely the tuners. So I would say replacing the tuners would really be useful for people who like to have their guitar stay in tune.
  2. hello just like to say thanks for everyone's advice i think i will take everyone's advice and get new strings, nut sauce and fit the guitar with a string butler too! then the guitar should keep a tuning better gosh... thanks again
  3. I was wondering if any one had researched how the epi casino's were recorded during the 60s. For example, how Alan Parsons, Keith Slaughter and Dave Harries recorded the Beatles playing them on various famous Beatles Tracks. I was wondering what tech they used to record the guitars, whether they DI'ed the guitars, or ambient mic'ed them if they ever wanted to record them with their acoustic tone, either alone or in combination with the DI'ed output. I also wonder what Microphones were used for this purpose. I wondered if they split the DI out, so they could record clean as well as Overdriven. And if overdriven / effects. I wonder what amp/cabs/combi's/effects were used. Lastly, i was wondering if anyone had published this info in a book? Surely there would be merit in the recording techniques from the Beatles sessions. Thanks
  4. Hello I was hoping someone could help advise. I recently brought my first Epi Casino. And have been playing it for a few months. However, i have noticed that the Guitar goes out of tune a fair amount. I was wondering if there is a remedy for this. I believe that it likely goes out of tune on some strings because i do like to bend notes a lot, as i was originally was a bass player, so have strong fingers. And although a novice guitarist, am quiet capable of bending strings, which i can do for a fair time without fatigue. I note that some people replace the tuners, i was wondering if there was another way to remedy this problem without replacing the tuners. Perhaps something that could be done to the tuners themselves, i did read that some guy had dismantled the tuners and placed a small washer in order to add friction, to make the tuner tighter? would that work. I also read that a german company make a simple device called a string butler that can simply be fitted that apparently some claim to work a treat at improving the tuning problems. Would be grateful for any help on the matter. Thanks
