  1. I bought this last year and love it dearly. It is my birth year and like me it shows it's age but sounds wonderful. I sold a 68 Southern Jumbo to get it but I miss that guitar and a Woody Guthrie SJ from about 08. The Woody was good but not up to the ,53. The Square Shoulder 68 SJ was good but different from the 53 .
  2. I got Elixir Phospher Bronze 11s on her. I like this old girl. I have heard compliments on early 50s Gibson necks. And I agree.
  3. Take your guitar to all of the local repair guys and get an estimate from each. Save the money on shipping and insurance both ways and that can be put into your repair. If the cost of a professional repair is prohibitive then sell your instrument. Or trade it as is for a functional guitar.
  4. I had always wanted a 60s era Hummingbird. Lucked up on a Square Shoulder 68 SJ Had that fast mid 60s neck. Had The Tone. Foolishly let it do. I have a Bedell 64 Dreadnought. She has good, good tone. But it is not my favorite scale. So I have a 1953 Southern Jumbo on the way.

  6. Wow....this is so amazing. She is clean and very pristine.
  7. I would have liked more Peter Green / Danny Kirwin stuff. Also more of the band Free.
