If you haven't listened to Todd Rundgren's A Capella album from around 1985, you owe it to yourself to give it a listen. Todd digitally sampled his own voice into the keyboards, and then played all instruments on the album using the sounds, tones, snaps, claps, schwooshes, thumps, and clicks of his own voice. Of course he sang normally for the vocals and the harmonies, but still; It's brilliant.

I don't own a zero-turn, but I have come to trust the opinion of this lady. See if she can offer any advice.

A limerick, then. Don’t be a party pooper, Pepper Dennis needs encouragement, not a side-stepper So what if he goes in debt? He’ll be happy buying the walnut, I bet And he’ll do it faster than Jesus healing the leper 😃

New Jimmy Page Eds-1275 Custom Shop. Thoughts?

I look at this as a lawyer's wall hanger. Retirement gift for an attorney (and Led Zep fan) hanging up his spurs, and settling down somewhere near Manassas, Virginia. Can't actually picture a currently gigging musician seeing that for $50K and saying, "That exactly what I need to go on the road with next week." 😗 -
Who do I speak with @ Gibson to discuss new models?

Hilarious. Walk in, drop a turd in the punch bowl, and then get upset and leave in a huff because people aren't happy with the turd in the punch bowl. 🤔 -

NGD addendum to the thread. I went on a Telecaster quest over the past few days. Tried every recent-made Tele in two different music shops and three different pawn shops. Couldn't find any interesting old ones. And I tried. Most were Made in Mexico, and two were Japanese builds. One had foil covered single coil pickups. Just like a few months ago, when I tried a variety of Player Series Strats and Teles, eh, *meh*. Good guitars, but there was no Shazaam moment of wonderfulness. So today I armed myself with a Guild Starfire III that I had bought last year and never really properly bonded with, and I went and tried a few Made in Corona, California models, all used, and all from 2023. Shazaam! I loved them all, and really loved an Fender American Performer Hum, in Antique White finish. (actually a custard colour, but whatever) So I made the trade, did really well in the transaction, and came home with it. Played it for the past half hour, running it thru two amps and a variety of pedals. Just lovely. Greasebucket tone circuit. Yosemite® Single-Coil Telecaster® pickup in the bridge. American Performer Double Tap™ Humbucker in the neck position. And the Tone Knob pull-to-activate coil tap actually works. It sounds fantastic, with no drop in volume. Build quality is great, and the neck is of the finest manufacture, with very smooth jumbo fret ends. It's got the three brass saddles instead of the six chrome ones I usually love, but this one is intonated perfectly, so it's fine with me. Loving this guitar. May even go back to that other forum some day. Just to show it off, and to talk politics. 🙂 -
Mike, It sounds like the SG is the one guitar you won't be heartbroken to let go of. And I can understand. I have owned a few Gibson SG's, and in the end, never bonded with them. My advice would be to trade the SG in for the Flying V that you crave. It would be best though to play it in person, and put your hands on it first. To make sure it's worth the swap-out. 🫠

I gave this one a listen for the first time in years. THE very definition of fuzz guitar. Harvey Hinsley's 1978 Roland GR500. A wall of fuzz.

I will clarify for anybody who even cares at this point. I started the thread to vent about my being banned from another guitar web forum. Things started to turn absurdly ugly and political here, and I ended up deleting my original posting, and the several that followed, accordingly. So. Here we are with this mixed bag of nonsense, and I truly hope that this thread lives on in perpetual infamy, like some sort of interstellar probe that was only intended to make it out to Jupiter, but ended up flying right on out toward Andromeda. Please leave your kindest regards to Uranus. 😜 -
Slash feat. Brian Johnson - "Killing Floor"
sparquelito replied to Rabs's topic in The Gibson Lounge
Man, they killed that song. Was that Lenny Kravitz on the other guitar? Anyway, great stuff. First thing I have ever heard out of Slash that really turned me on. Don't get me wrong, I respect the guy. A lot. But his playing on GNR and Velvet Revolver always sounded pretty much the same, over and over again. This was wicked-good. 😉 -
I have really enjoyed watching Peter Frampton interviews over the years, and this is one of the best ones. He's such a lovely and good man, and his passion for playing and performing (and recording, and collecting) with guitars is infectious. I play his instrumental album Fingerprints about once a month. It's brilliant. 🙂

I used to fish on some lakes in the HOA property were I lived years ago with my first wife. I would haul a canoe down to the nearest one, throw the dachshunds into the canoe, and we would paddle out and fish for bass. Catch and release. Very relaxing. Never got into it very heavily. Fishing with the dogs was just a way to get out of the house and away from the wife. We were in the final two years of our marriage, and divorce was on the horizon. Sad, depressing times. I remember the peace of being out there on the water with Steffi and Helmut though. Good memories, those. 🥲

I have had a DVD version of Martin Scorcese's documentary Living In The Material World sitting around here forever. The film was made in 2011, and I acquired the DVD some time later. I haven't watched TV in so long, I kind of shelved it. Years later, I did the same thing with Blade Runner 2049. Bought it, and never watched it. I think I'll dust off the cables and connections, and see if the old DVD player still works, and find out if the television is up for it. I really liked George Harrison a lot. My goal will be to watch the film by this weekend. 😉

I tried it just now on three different guitars. Les Paul Modern Lite Stagg Les Paul Copy Guild Starfire III All three were a) no change at all. I'll check out the rest of the guitars later on, after dog-walking. I tell you what though, I thank you for that exercise, ghost_of_fl. Such a tasty sounding lick/riff there.! I love it. 😃
