  1. I have the 490/498 set in mine. They're great for straight up rock but not as versatile as some others. I am a big fan of 57 Classics though
  2. I got a 50s style Std with P90s the day after Christmas last year. I like the big neck, not sure how you feel about those. But it is the Goldtop, thats the only finish you could get with P90 s. Fifties wiring if that makes any difference to you and it's turned into my favorite guitar. Well worth looking at if you haven't tried one
  3. Tore my back up yesterday, it feels like I've been in a car wreck. My Les Pauls are both full weight and my Fenders aren't exactly light either. Old age has reared it's ugly head
  4. I have both. Yes they do sound different but that's the whole idea. My 339 has 57 Classics, like my LP Trad but with the different bodies they aren't the same. The 339 is a bit more open, for lack of a better description but played wide open still has that thick tone we all love A Strat is a single coil so it isn't going to have that full tone. It gets that nice clean glassy tone but go to the bridge and they scream. No, it isn't the full humbucker sound but they're great in their own way You just might not be a Strat guy is all. I started on Fenders and have a Strat and a Tele which are different animals. You might be a Tele guy. They compliment a LP well.
  5. This one was the option I've missing. I've got 57 Classics in my Trad and 339 but with the 339 being semi hollow there is a different sound there. The SG has 490/498. My Strat has whatever came stock in 2000, whatever those are they're staying in. I did try some DiMarzio Area pickups but decided I liked stock better. And my Tele has Twisted Tele/ Nocaster pickups which I really like. But I was missing the P90. Not anymore ☺️
  6. I got a new 50s Std with P90s the day after Christmas. Phenomenal guitar really. But the problem is this If there is another guitar in the same room that guitar barely gets looked at. It's not like my other guitars are chumps. There is another LP, an SG, 339, Tele and Strat. All great guitars in their rights but the new one is just covers so much territory it gets grabbed first
  7. Sometimes I just look at mine too. I start thinking man, those are some nice freakin' guitars. Then I remember they're mine. That's even better
  8. Picked one up, put it back, nice guitar and all but wanted to try another Repeat Third time was the charm 2016 Trad Desertburst Cue up Oct of 2019 Had to order a 50s Style with P 90s, without a tryout which means Goldtop. Awesome guitar. Glad I took the chance
  9. I put EB Super Slinky, 9-42 on all my guitars. That's SG, 2 LP, Strat, Tele and 339. They don't break and they keep tone and tune really well too. Like someone else said you're going to get all kinds of different answers
  10. Keep what you have. Yeah the new one would be nice but I wouldn't give up two great Les Pauls like that for one. Finances aside, having a backup is always a plus
  11. Beautiful guitars. And you got yours the same day I got mine. I opted for the P90 Goldtop though. What pickups are in yours ?
  12. The story I got was that the original run of them sold out so they had to make some more. Had I ordered a few weeks before it would have probably been just a few days. My local store isn't a high volume seller. They had a Tribute model with P90 but not a LP. Yeah, the Tribute is quite a bit cheaper but I really wanted this one
  13. I really like this one. It's my first P90 guitar. I'd played some, but never owned one. What is really surprising me is that as good as it sounds unleashed it's spent more time on my clean channels with volume and tone rolled back a bit. It just has a really full, warm sound to it that none of my other guitars do
  14. Yes, it really is. And sounds just as nice as it looks. And surprisingly enough to me I've spent as much time on the clean side of things with the volume rolled back a bit as I have wide open. That's not my normal thing
