  1. I’ve always thought it was weird how Gibson sticks gold hardware on Studios since Studios are supposed to be basic models. They always act like gold hardware is a feature on Customs.
  2. The parts not being original don’t matter if you like the guitar. It’s never going to be collectable so originality doesnt mean anything. My first LP was a 93-95 (not sure of the exact year but I bought it new in 1995) Studio. I had bought my dad a Classic and loved it, especially the neck so i bought myself a Studio. But i just wasnt happy with the baseball bat neck my Studio had so i traded it in on another Classic. Sound and lookswise I like the Studio. Mine was black. If you like your current Studio IMO there’s no reason to trade it in.
  3. So let me get this straight.....you chose....chose mind you....."Suckit" as your user name.....but you're calling people who don't like a brand of guitar "immature"? I'm not even going to point out the irony.
  4. PRS are quality guitars as far as build, sound etc. I just think most of them are ugly and/or ridiculous looking. Personally I'm just not into that body shape or those inlays or that headstock. They really do look more like wall art than a guitar to me, most of them anyway. They remind me of hippies and businessmen. Some of the base models look a little better but I'd still take a Strat, or a Tele or a LP or a Reverend or a good looking Ibanez over a PRS.
  5. I didn't say anything about wanting "pissing contests". I said I don't understand why if a thread bothers someone that much why they wouldn't just leave the thread? Why report it? Does the thought of an argument/debate that they aren't involved in bother them that much? When you do that you're creating a sterile, censored, boring environment. Sometimes discussions get heated. So what? I guess I just have thicker skin than a lot of you guys. If someone says something I don't like or I disagree with I'll tell them why. It would never occur to me to report someone to the mods. I see it all the time here and on other forums, a heated discussion will be going on and next thing you know people are saying stuff like "the mods need to lock this thread" or "ban this guy" etc. I got banned from a Les Paul site for saying I don't think 58-60 LP are "magic", I said I thought they're (most of them anyway) just great guitars but no better or worse than what's being put out today. You would have thought I had insulted everyone's mothers. Once I said I didn't think bursts were the alpha and omega of guitars guys started practically begging the mods to ban me. I see the same attitude here from a lot of people and I just don't get it. So many people want any opinion they don't agree with "banned".
  6. Why is it so many people here want the mods to shut down every discussion that isn't just "HNGD!"? I know this is a pvt owned forum but I'm a fan of free speech. People arguing with passion or conviction isn't a reason to cry for a mod. If you don't like a thread.....why would you report it? Why wouldn't you just leave the thread? When people run to mods to report threads it creates a censored environment. Why would anyone want that? I always thought of guitarists as creative free thinkers but judging by most guitar forums most seem to want to silence anyone they don't agree with.
  7. How many Gibsons have you returned? If you're that picky.....maybe you should only buy guitars you've actually seen first hand? I know new Gibsons cost a ton (which is why I buy used) but you sound super anal about "blemishes" so why would you by a guitar you haven't even seen? Do you just enjoy returning guitars? As far as PRS goes 95% of them are fugly and look like they should be hanging on a middle manager's office wall....you know....to show how cool he is? I'd take a beat to hell LP over a PRS any day of the week. PRS always make me think of Santana or Phish or jam bands. As far as "blemishes" go....you're (I assume) going to be playing the guitar....and it will develop more "blemishes". Unless it's a case queen why would you let a small "blemish" stand between you and a guitar? I just do not get why some guys want their guitars to look perfect forever. But like others have said, good luck with the PRS, I'm sure every guitar they put out is perfect.
  8. Well I most certainly did say that BB in the US (as far as I know) doesn't carry musical instruments and I did point out BB in Canada does and is an "authorized Gibson dealer" (as any legit place selling new Gibsons would be). I assume if the deal was good enough nothing would stop the OP or me or you or anyone from buying a guitar from a BB in Canada online. I have seen guys on other forums talk about deals they got at BB on LP. But the point is BB Canada is an "authorized" Gibson dealer the same as any music store selling Gibsons.
  9. I downvoted your post but meant to upvote it. Sorry. I don't see a way to change my vote.
  10. BB in the US does not sell muiscal instruments as far as I know........I said that earlier, remember? BB in Canada....where they do sell Gibson guitars......is an authorized Gibson dealer. Look it up.
  11. I understand being cautious but again, it's not like BB is some sketchy EBay store with 3 reviews. The Gibson you buy at BB is no different than one from GC, Sweetwater, Sam Ash or any Gibson authorized "music store". They all come from the exact same factory. It's not even like big chain "music" stores have really knowledgeable or superior employees or superior customer service, anyone who has shopped at a Guitar Center can attest to that. Often the employees don't actually know much about the products they're selling. If you bought a Gibson at BB it's covered by the exact same warranty as any other Gibson, if a store is selling new genuine Gibsons....they're an "authorized dealer". So I really can't imagine...other than OCD....why anyone would even worry about buying a Gibson from BB if it was a good deal. It's like thinking the car you buy from one dealership is going to be better or worse than an identical car from another dealership or the bottle of ketchup you buy at one grocery store is somehow different than the bottle of ketchup from a grocery down the road. Sam Ash, Best Buy, Sweetwater, GC are all getting their product from the exact same place. Obviously there are going to be occasional duds from mass produced guitars coming out of a factory but that's just luck of the draw. Like the other guy said nobody is setting aside crappy ones to go to BB. The only way I could see a "music store" being better than a BB is if you wanted to actually play the guitar before buying but for all I know BB might let people try out the guitars in store. Even still if you want to actually try a guitar out (I mean if you don't shop online) you're limited to whatever product a store has I've bought most of my guitars online (all used though) and the only one I've ever had problems with is my Midtown Custom. It's got tuning issues that I'm trying to sort out. I get being cautious but there's a difference between rational concerns and (IMO) paranoia.
  12. If BB is selling new Gibsons they're an "authorized dealer" and the Gibson warranty is going to work just like it would on a guitar bought at Guitar Center or Sweetwater.
  13. Totally agree and formthe record I don't think your post is trollish at all. A Gibson that came from Best Buy came from the same factory as a Gibson at GC or Sweetwater. And while I've never bought a guitar at BB (I don't think BB in the States sell guitars, or at least the one I go to doesn't) the Gibson warranty and return policies would be basically the same, regardless of the store. It's not like BB is some shady fly by night retailer. If the guitar they sold you was defective or not to your liking I'm pretty sure they would do exactly what they do with the all their merchandise and allow you to return or exchange it. People get really OCD about guitars for some reason when as other posters have said they're just tools from a factory.
  14. Just play and enjoy the guitar. I've never understood why people want their guitars to remain pristine forever or worry about a tiny blemish. Especially one under the pickguard lol. To me a perfect looking guitar is the same as a hammer that looks brand new. It means it doesn't get much use and tools are made to be used. I wouldn't have much faith in a carpenter whose tools looked brand new and I feel the same about guitarists with pristine guitars. I have a LP Classic from the early 90s that has arm wear at the top that is down to the wood. It's just a small spot right below the binding but I look at that and know it's from years of me playing the guitar and IMO at least it looks cool and gives the guitar character. I'm proud of that wear. (My Classic is why reliced guitars are so silly to me, I know what my guitar has been through for the past twenty years and it's got dents and dings and a small amount of paint missing but it doesn't look anything like most "reliced" guitars with their paint "worn" off in huge patches, checking everywhere, etc)
