If you're gonna keep it, I'd remove the adhesive from the guard rolling it with you fingers or using some kind of adhesive remover. I've always managed to roll it off a little at a time with my fingers and thumb. It's gonna take a good while to do it with that large guard. And roll any of the adhesive off the guitar as well the same way. I'd then clean the back of the guard and the guitar with Naphtha (do not polish or anything after cleaning with naphtha). I'd use 3m MP467 or MP468 double sided adhesive sheets you get from Amazon, that is the only type of adheasive I recommend using. Attach the adhesive sheet to the guard first, then apply it to the guitar. As far as your 9v battery, get an inspection mirror and look inside the guitar . May need some velcro and attach it to the neck block inside the guitar. I have no suggestions for the ebony bridge except to possibly put a very light coat of mineral oil or lemon oil on it very lightly and wipe it dry. I'm not to familiar with ebony.

The gibson pickguard I have is not ingraved, it has the graphics covered with some type of super hard resin that is somewhat flexible and nothing wears off. Mine is a 2013 modern classic hummingbird. The engraved ones were/are the True Vintage torrified birds. I'm glad mine don't wear off!

Thks. John Pearse do not come airtight but I've never had any issues with them. I just put em in a storage bag when I get them. I always order 3 sets at a time.

The 10mm I initially ordered(piezo still in place)was B08YRXTZ2L 75mm lenghth, 3.2mm thickness and 12" radius. I know of Bob colosi, however I have never delt with him. He's also highly respected. I think his prices are a little higher though. I have only used MacNichols cause they were on amazon.

The actual thickness of the gibson hummingbird pickguard is 1.8 mm to 2.0. As far as John Pearse strings, I have only been able to find them on Amazon. MacNichol is also on Amazon or you can contact them at www.MacNichol.com . His website shows the saddle for Epiphone style saddle. When I removed the Fishman sonitone on my 12 string, the Piezo was 1.8mm thickness, therefore macnichols only has 9mm and 10mm. I needed an 11mm or I would have to super glue 2 saddles to fit the slot. MacNichols sent me an 11mm Epiphone style saddle so I wouldn't have to shim the existing saddle. What I don't know, is if your outside the US. They ship fast too! I have no affiliation with any of the suppliers as I am just an ordinary person. MacNichols does sell only high quality bone and will do anything they can to accommodate you. Excellent customer service. According to their site, they only use high quality cattle bone. I ordered the unbleached saddle that are not white(bleached). Hope this helps.

Welcome to the asylum! Congratulations on your new bird. I too have one (indonesia) and can say it is an excellent guitar, especially for the $'s! I have measured the guard at approximately .060 in. (1.524 mm) and I am currently using John Pearse 12-53 Phosphor Bronze (600L). I changed the saddle only to an unbleached (macnichols) saddle and bridge pins. I use the 4mm mop presentation style black tusq bridge pins cause I add an extra ball end to the strings. I found the factory plastic pins are very inconsistent and the size is not standard size and had a tough time getting a couple of em out, like they jammed them in there. I am currently trying out a tusq saddle and really like what I hear. I also have a the actual gibson hummingbird and that epibird sounds very close to it. I also have the 12 string hummingbird (IBG) too and done the same to include removing the sonitone and putting an lr baggs active element VTC in.

Dont know about The Taylor swift, but Guitar Ctr and zZounds hit my email box today with a J180 and a couple of more added to their IBG line with cooked tops: J180 (?) , J200 and 1942 Banner J45 all with a case and LRBaggs VTC.

Pretty cool. If you need a case for it I highly recommend the Epiphone Edread case. That case was especially made for the 160 and will accommodate quite a few other Epiphone models. I have 2 of those cases for my IBG's. They are nice especially for 129.00. They're wood cases. Only thing, the case weighs 13 pounds empty! Just got my 2nd case from zZounds ( no affiliation) last month.

Thanks and thx for the info. I was kinda thinking along the same lines as a possibility of of things still moving around a little cause I just got it Feb 21. Not quite a month old yet. I just replaced the bone saddle with another unbleached saddle from Macnichols (no affiliation) cause of a small chip in the back of the factory saddle about a week ago. They stay in tune pretty good though its not like out of tune after a song. Thx again!

Well, I too just got a new IBG Hummingbird in February 2024 and it has the epiphone deluxe tuners on it and is a fantastic guitar, but not 100% satisfied with the tuners. I was wondering if you ever found some replacements and what was entailed swapping them out, like enlarging the existing holes or something? Thx.

I've got an Indonesion Epiphone Hummingbird and after truss rod adjustment etc.... it sounds ridiculously close to my Gibson Bird. I think it's well beyond the 849 bucks. There's a couple threads in the Epibird Acoustic section that has a couple guys have a j200 IBG and I belive the J45 IBG. I haven't heard much on the ones made in china, as they are staring or have moved production of the 6 string IBG to china. But I haven't heard any complaints about the ones madein china either.

If you got a hold of the low end ones like 499 bucks and under, they don't sound worth a ......t. The only ones that sound decent are the inspired by gibsons after you get them properly set up, especially the epiphone hummingbird. Too there's a few made in Bozeman that are with the upper Gibsons that sound good.
