  1. In Topic:Nashville Customshop vs Memphis Customshop?

    14 November 2017 - 01:04 AM

I went to Gibson Memphis last year and asked about this because I have an 08 335 custom. The factory supervisor explained that the basic 335 guitar is built in Memphis and then sent to the Nashville custom shop for conpletion. As I recall there is no custom shop in Memphis.
    Hope this helps

Here is my 1936 ES150 with CC pickup. Sounds beautiful with a warm soft woody tone. I was genuinely amazed when it was played thru the amp

    Hi JimR56
Thanks for your comments.I play bluesy jazz or jazzy blues. Sometimes accompanying a lovely young Italian jazz singer here in the Uk.We try to do Billie Holliday Nina Simone stuff as well as Amy Winehouse Beth Hart .....and so on! The ES150 is a beauty to play, soft rich and warm in tone. I have a custom ES175 from 2004 and an ES335 custom from 2008 but the 150 blows them away for pure jazzy soul sound. I was stunned at how lovely it sounded thu the amp.

Can anyone help me please with advice on how to clean and tidy up my newly acquired but slightly shabby 1936 ES 150. Specifically the spruce top is dull but with nice patina. The same with the maple topside. Also the tuners are heavily tarnished and the headstock black is worn and faded. Any advice welcome as this is my first serious vintage.. . Or should I just leave well alone?
    Many thanks
