  1. Not sure how many 2018 Vintage L-OO’s were produced but mine was made 21 days after the one in this thread. The tone is out of this world ! It will give you a lifetime of happiness..
  2. Very interesting that my Pre War was started In May with the same inspection date of 7/22/20 as Brucebubs checklist CSJB20PWVS 21380012 packed by CP, Inspected by JT I didn’t preorder mine. I purchased it in store just after it had been posted for sale online at 10pm the previous evening. I phoned the store the minute they opened the next morning and said I would be in within the hour to pay for it. They held it as they knew me. I bought the Historic AJ the same way.
  3. @Brucebubs the SJ200 was listed on the dealer website about 10:30 in the evening. They opened for business the next morning at 10:00 am. Guess who was on the phone at 10:01 ? Uhhuh, you guessed it. @pcf not trying to hijack your thread..hope you can find what you’re after.
  4. The 2020 Historic Custom Shop SJ200 Pre War RW and 2020 Custom Shop Historic 1936 Advanced Jumbo. Both outstanding... https://imgur.com/mhqEV4q
  5. Test https://imgur.com/mhqEV4q it worked...will be testing another....
  6. I bought a 2020 Historic Pre War SJ 200 born July 2020. Outstanding workmanship. Worth every penny! I own several high end Gibson Acoustics and quality control is the best I have ever seen from Gibson. So, not to say that poor workmanship and QC doesn’t exist, it may, but not in my collection. I have had access to others and witnessed first hand the outstanding attention to detail. As a buyer it is your responsibility to take into account what you are buying. If it doesn’t meet your standards then just move on. For the benefit of all I hope your situation can be rectified.
  7. I would first try the 1957 SJ200 and 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo RW. Being you already have a J45TV I would look to expand on something different. A Historic J185 Vintage Sun Burst is another one to " consider". Don't be in a hurry. If your LGS will let you try them at home, go for it. Trying new guitars out in a parking lot ?? Just plain crazy.... Access You Tube and listen to the many videos on the Historic, Original and Modern models. There are some excellent, interesting options out there. The quality on the 2020 models I have seen so far is some of the best I have seen in a long time. Good luck on your quest.

  9. In 2016 I bought from a 5 star dealer a new Ltd Edition SJ200 flame maple back and sides. I mean just super. I was so blind to its beauty that after getting it home it stayed in the case for a week or so as I had other projects going on. I was so thrilled, sounded great and a beauty. Well, what happened next taught me a lesson quick. I got to looking over the guitar real good, I mean actually paying attention to every detail. All of a sudden right before my eyes all this time the center strip on the back was off center to the neck join at the top of the back by 1/4". It stuck out like a sore thumb. I really got mad about it and upset with myself for not seeing it before I brought it home. This is what Gibson the best in the world put out on a $4,000 guitar. So, I took pics, wrote Gibson how disappointed I was with the workmanship as I held them as God of guitars. The e-mail went to the dealer, the dealer passed it along. A week or so later I was advised to return it, they would make me a new one. Shoddy workmanship, poor QC or whatever, it all could have been avoided if I had taken responsibility to be sure of what I was purchasing in the first place. I learned a valuable lesson of which has changed how I buy Gibson or any other brand. Just as a added note when I drop thousands of dollars on a guitar it better be up to the highest of standards. So if you see something that really causes you concern....take action. Look over real good what you're buying before you get it home !
  10. PB, I have two red line cases like yours with the seemingly difficult "snap latch". They just require a breaking in. The one is for my L-OO Vintage and the SJ 200 Pre War Historic I picked up yesterday. The other cases like the top case in the photo are like it that house a Humminbird Vintage and a J45 TV and have that tannish color. Much better builds on those. All in all though after a small break in period the others work fine but the quality of the inside ( the purple linings ) have a lot to be desired. I have no regrets with the acquisition of the Historic SJ200 like yours but will leave it for a future thread so not to conflict with this one !
  11. PB you never know when or where opportunity arises. That is why you should carry a business card with your name and contact number. Just for instances like this . It is polite, private and puts the ball back in their court. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Is it better than being forward and direct ? Only you can answer that one..but sometimes not being direct gets you know where. Lesson learned. Good luck.
  12. PatriotsBiker : no I did not get to play it. It was locked in a wall hung cabinet. I did manage to get a close inspection of the bracing through the sound hole. The sanding on the bracing was smooth as glass. Very high quality sanding job, hide glue etc. I was hesitant to play it as if I did I just might change my mind on the Pre War SJ200. I mean really, why tempt yourself when you have your heart set on another prize ? I do have to go back at some point soon. I can readdress it then. Overall my 2018 vintage Bird is equal or better. JMO.
  13. My local dealer just received the Historic 1960 Fixed Bridge Hummingbird, HC burst. Build date recorded 6/25 /2020. At least that is the date on the checklist. I'm hoping soon the SJ 200 Pre War will arrive. Gonna take the plunge ! Major GAS for it . Which one will be the lucky addition to the L-OO Vintage 2018, Hummingbird Vintage 2018 and J45TV 2015 ? I hated to do it but the Hummingbird LTD 12 string is there looking for a new friend. The SJ 200 Pre War is getting the nod.
