The "Just got in from a gig" thread.....

Got in from another acoustic show. Great night. I was honored to play with a special guest Gary tonight for a few songs. He played with one of the best Baltimore bands back in the day called Trigger Happy. We did his versions of "Willin", "Cinnamon Girl" and "Can't Find My Way Home".

Crowd and staff loved us, and we booked more gigs with the venue through the rest of the year.

I'm testing this Embed feature. If it works, it will show Gary playing Willin and me following best I could since I didn't know the song very well. Cell phone vid with lots of background noise.

Holy crap what a day.

Bass player annual back yard party. Us and his kid's band, Isn't It Always. Them kids were spectacular. We were...us. Had a friend with us, him and I always have a great time. Good old rock and roll from us with the requisite singing, great 90's pop punk from the kids, with the requisite singing, three sets each. Beer. Wine. Food. 50 people or so, lots of pool splashin and day drankin. Left at noon, got home about midnight. Yeesh. I took some pictures, maybe tomorrow, today later, I'll get them up here.

Well I really earned my money tonight......

Jazz duo gig with my long-time sax player, private party - a 70th birthday.

Took big archtop jazz guitar and a Roland Microcube.

90+ mins of rhythm playing on standards. My hands are tired for once!

The host's son plays trombone and he sat in on a few numbers too.

Good gig. Love playing background jazz. I should pick up my guitar now and try and capitalise on what I did.

Best wishes to all.

I should have posted Friday night when I got in.

Just had to say, we played a great night to a very big crowd. Mostly friends and family of the band members. They actually did the "Freebird" chant after we ended. Now these were not a bunch of rednecks. They were a very high class group. So we actually gave them a totally unrehearsed never-before-played version! I'm not sure how good the main song turned out, but I think they really dug my jam at the end. rolleyes.gif

Another gig this evening in the wilds of beautiful rural Hampshire. The Hampshire Kids festival at Fullerton(!), south of Andover.

We were 2nd band on and played a 2-hr set from 6-8pm. There was a good p.a. and plenty of monitors so the sound was good out front AFAIK.

Interesting playing outdoors (we were in an open-front marquee) as you hear the band very differently, no-one seems loud. We did ok.

And I got in by 10pm!!

Best wishes to all.

Just got in at 2am from what is becoming a regular spot for us called Alibi's. A local bar with a great crowd. I like it cause it's less than 10 minutes from my house. eusa_angel.gif

No photos or set list tonight. Pretty much a similar list to what I posted a few weeks ago, but we did an unrehearsed version of "Barracuda". We did each rehearse it individually, but never played or practiced it as a band. It was a hit. cool.gif

No whiskey for me tonight. Just one more beer. Good night (morning) all.

Got in from another acoustic show. We had our buddy Mark sit in with us in keys tonight. Awesome night.

To top off the night, just before we played our final song, we the whole bar paused to watch the Orioles on TV, and Manny Machado hit a walk-off Grand Slam to win the game. cool.gif Once the cheering for the game stopped, we played "Jenny Jenny" and said goodnight.

Just in from a beach bar/restaurant gig. 3 sets - done by 10:00 ish hard to beat that. Used the Tele I recently made and the Champ I just bought and it was a perfect combination. In fact whilst tuning up, they were playing "Have You Ever Loved a Woman" on the house system. Figured if there is such a thing as a good omen for a new Champ that was it! Started playing along and I knew I'd picked the right gear.

Since guitar god RCT always posts his set lists, I'll do the same, though we veered off of it quite a bit as usual.

Looks like a great night. Is " The Itch" the one by KIX or some other song by the same name?

I'm just getting home from our gig. We were scheduled to play til 1am but not much of a crowd there. so we cut after 2 sets but still got paid. I think a lot of people were at other bars that were showing the Mayweather vs McGregor fight. It's a shame because I don't think our sound was ever as good as tonight. They have a house system and provide a guy to run sound and he did a great job.

I guess I'll have a little rye and get to bed. I'm going in to work for awhile tomorrow (today rolleyes.gif )

Just got home from a gig at the R&R Grill in Laurel, De. just your basic bar. was our 1st gig since the keyboardist/singer had a heart attack about 2 months ago. the bands name is Gideon Groove, named after the nephew of our own Kidblast on this forum. Joe Davis, the recovering keys/singer is Ray's nephews stepdad. Small world (but I'd hate to paint it).

fun gig. felt good to see them and play music. also 1st gig I got to use my new BIG TOE boost pedal from Surfpups Tubular Mods Co. Great pedal. Thanks JC.

well, back to my snack, and unwinding ...

Came in from another acoustic gig at good ole' Crabtowne USA.

Funny thing about tonight. Right as we were about to start playing, this young girl walks up with a guitar case in her hand, asking if she can see our list and where the sign-up sheet is. eusa_think.gif After some puzzled questions on both our parts, it turned out she misread the website and thought it was Open Mic night. eusa_doh.gif Well we felt so bad for her and she seemed like a nice girl, so we said stick around and play some stuff on our break. She did 3 originals which were all good and got a good reaction from the crowd. We all exchanged some info and plan to do some collaboration, or support each other down the road.

Funny how things work out. cool.gif

Well that was a good night. Hot, crowded early, thinned out, then picked up again late.

Used Tele and Les Paul all night because of new amp, have to have the extensions of myself to wring this thing out and it was a great success. I like it a lot.

I forgot to take pictures.

Can't You See was the highlight of the evening, them peoples dug the hex out of that. Trower and Hendrix went over big. The crowd was up and sha la la'n so good in Brown Eyed Girl I forgot how to play the chorus and just dropped my arms and sang. It was bliss.

Wish we were still at it!

I'll be playing with various bands/lineups this week on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Should I post after each one? eusa_think.gifrolleyes.gif

Do it!

Oh, and a rehearsal on Wednesday. My wife is about done with this stuff. msp_unsure.gif

Flowers? Jewelry? A well-placed "I love you" never hurts. Or you could go the passive-agressive "I sure love you for supporting my music" route.
