RRIDER
I noticed on the 2014 models the serial numbers are 14xxxxxxx. I would assume it is because this year is Gibson's 120th anniversary. They did 94xxxxxx in 1994, their centennial year. I know how to read the standard serial number of YDDDYRRR. Does anyone know if the numbers after "14" the year tell the day of the year it was stamped?
MrNylon
I called up Gibson CS. They told me the 14 is obviously for 2014. All of the other numbers just run in sequence. Nothing to do with the regular Gibson serial number pattern. Example, my SG Std. Bass shows 140025XXX. The 25 tousandth something in the total of the 2014 120th Anniversary run. The way to tell the date of the Axe, is by the date on the Gibson factory inspection card that comes with the Axe. My SG Std. Bass dates Jan. 13, 2014. I received it on Jan. 31st. Pretty new.
