TommyK
Be aware that shape and blinged out-edness change from time to time on Gibson products. Just because yours has a minimum of pearloid decoration compared to the 1999 shown here, doesn't mean yours is not original. Specs, especially decoration, and scale length, for some odd reason, change without much notice. This seems to be a Epiphone and Gibson trait. The pearloid dots, which may hide screw heads, are common on Gibsons and Epiphones and not on other makes. Most other makers just glue their bridges on. Gibson, since time immemorial, has glued and screwed their bridges for added security. It's their 'thing'. If an inspection mirror reveals screws and nuts on the underside of these dots, I'm leaning towards 'original'. While there is a bit of roughness deep in the scroll, remember this is an Epiphone where extra hand sanding time in these difficult to access areas, is just not cost effective. If this is a replacement, my hat is off to the installer. He/she did a professional job.
