  2. Ever have a thought so profound, undeniably-true, and awesome, yet one that the rest of society will probably never get on board with? I did, this very morning. I was at the local nursery, and chatting with my neighbors about soil, plants, and fertilizer, tomatoes, hot peppers, and a variety of other things related to gardening. The neighbor lady said, "You know, if we could teach all the world to plant a garden, we could solve world hunger!" Another gal chimed in, "Yes. There are so many sustainable resources, and abundant mechanisms and supply chains. If all nations worke

  4. Today was a NGD that I wasn’t planning on happening at all...I was quite settled and happy with my stable and wasn’t planning on any expansion, but I found myself browsing my dealer friend Glenn’s website and this caught my eye...as I had a few extra pennies thanks to the quarterly PRS royalties payout, I thought I’d take a chance and buy it remotely-Glenn and I have known each other for fourteen years or so now, and he knows exactly what I look for and favour in a guitar, so I knew he wouldn’t steer me wrong. The guitar is a cedar topped maple Jumbo, around the size of a J185, made by a

  5. "How's your food? What was it you ordered?" "I'm having baked Sparquelito in swampy mojo sauce. It's a bit gristly and sinewy actually. How about you?" "Well these stir-fried breast steaks are ok but a bit fatty. It's -" "You know (leaning forward and whispering) - there's still a black market in white meat." "Yeah but I think this is kosher, especially now the euthanasia act has been passed. It's all properly aged and certified." "Uh - no connection, but how are your folks?" "Well....Dad's signed a contract with the organ harvesters, so...5 years. It's an o

  6. I can't think of a lead guitarist of a major group who ISN'T obnoxious, vulgar and self-absorbed, (to some extent).

  7. On a different note and..... Not as "profound" as endorsing cannibalism, but still a "truism"----- Some years ago, a couple old friends and I were discussing how one can determine when they reach middle age. (by now, we're all well past it. ). Some came up with all sorts of ideas, but I hit it on the head when I replied... "You can tell when you're middle age when you wake up in the morning, and it's your BACK that's stiff!" Whitefang

  8. Closest I cam to a Ted Nugent concert was cruising past Cobo Arena in a friend's boat on the Detroit river the night of one of his concerts there. He was so loud we actually DID hear him outside on the river! Personally, I never cared for Ted's output solo after he left the Amboy Dukes. And BRAD----- If I too, cared about an artist's politics and let it determine my like or dislike their stuff, I'd have to get rid of a LOT of VHS tapes, DVDs and all my Zappa recordings. And it wouldn't be due to Frank's politics as it would his condescending superior attitude. But why care whe

  9. When you put out an album and the cover is of a smeared money shot and blood, what is inside is a representation of the album cover. Why do they still make music? Seen em twice (The Black Album aka Metallica and Hardwired). I should have learned the first time.

  12. OK, your guitar is not a 2022. It is a 2020. The first and fifth number signify the year. The second through fourth signify the day of the year it was made. 2 and 0 = 2020 265= September 22 For a few years 2014- the middle of 2019, the first and second digits represented the year. But when the New managment got the new production lines in full swing they went back to the old format. The daters you are using are not up to date.

  15. Rest easy my friend! Arguably, Thro-Bak makes the most authentic PAF type Humbuckers you can buy.. They own & use the original Gibson Kalamazoo Winding machines to produce them.. Very much worth considering if you want, as close as you can get, PAF Sound... Here’s a YouTube of their PAF Machine....

  16. I saw Santana just after his first album was released, they were the first act, CSN&Y were the main bill, I actually got to sit in on CSN&Ys sound check, Both groups were just awesome that night. But again Santana was on his first national tour, and he and the band played each song from the record in order, exactly as recorded with no exceptions . CSN&Y were so well polished, and of course, each member had his own material, Stills played a solo acoustic set of his stuff, then Young joined him, they did a few Springfield songs, then Stills left and Neil did his thin

  18. Yeah, I did read that too, I thought, Deb will have a hissy fit, Lol. Want to hear something funny though? In 8 years now being retired, She has had me take out about 10 to 15 thousand of My 401-K for her to use and I haven't taken out 1 penny of it for me. I truly won't be spending that much to put in a cheap guitar. But I really love the songs and sounds of Gregor Hilden. He also has a couple of pedals made for him too.

  19. Oh, thanks Mac. I'll make a note of that. The reason I want to mode the Epiphone is because it and my Gibson Standard sound so close to one another. I love playing the Gibson more, Well, Because it's a Gibson. LOL. So I want to turn the Epiphone into a Blues Machine. Maybe, I'll play it more?

  21. Back in 2011 someone thought it would be great idea to have Meatloaf perform at the Australian Rules Football Grand Final. I'm guessing they based the idea on the huge popularity of the 'Bat Out Of Hell' album and didn't do any up-to-date research on how this guy sounds live. The results were as I expected - live on TV - absolutely terrible.

  24. Well, when they first came out they were being described as a cross between AC/DC and Queen.. Which they kind of are... I "kinda" liked them at first.. Sort of dont care what anyone thinks of them.. But it didnt last.. As said, sadly a bit of a novelty act which they do to themselves by being so campy and over the top. Yes its done on purpose but they use every rock and roll cliché in the book.. So when you first find them its like, good licks, decent solos and rhythms and he can sing. But its never anything more than that (if you see what I mean) and then his voice starts to get a bit

  25. I must confess, The Darkness, as a band, is a bit of a mystery to me. Never heard of them before this day. In between some motorcycle maintenance and gardening today, I caught up on some of their songs. I can't tell from just a few videos whether their over-the-top rock and roll antics are meant to be campy schlock, or whether they are serious. Either way, I kind of like it. The song Rock And Roll Deserves To Die is especially good. 🙂

  26. Ted never claimed to be a singer anyway. He's a guitar player. And 10 times the guitar player that Derek or Meatball are. I like Nugent's guitar playing. Always have. I think his time with Derek was also the best music he made. Derek's vocals are terrific! But I also like some stuff that Ted sang. Nobody else could have sang Wang Dang Sweet Poontang but Ted. I also like his screams all over Double Live Gonzo. I saw him in 1977 on his Cat Scratch Fever Tour. It was my very first concert. And to this day I can remember most of it vividly with very fond memories. I

  27. Yeah, it was some very nice work to replicate it. However, this would definitely fall in the "definitely not for me ..." category as I am not a fan of silver-burst or sparkle (let alone both), and the added tuning issues of a Bigsby (they sure look cool, though, no doubt). But the clear miss, to me, is the lack of headstock binding which kinda makes it look a little naked for a LPC. Also, while it is not that obvious in the pics due to resolution, I think a LPC with single-ply "standard" neck/body binding also would look out of place. Now this will likely be really off putting to many here

  29. I thought their first album was ok BUT the over use of his falsetto voice just becomes irritating.. And sadly that kind of makes everything they do a bit of a joke which I know in some ways is intentional but not cool really. Cant take anything they do seriously at all. Justin is kind of like the Alan Partridge of rock.. Desperately wants to be cool but just isnt. Its just my opinion, but maybe if they had taken it all a bit more seriously, they could have been a really good band.
