  1. Gibson's own site is outdated. Gibson USA reverted to the 2005 serial number format in 2018; Gibson Acoustic never switched to the 2014 system at all.

  10. Excellent necro-post, and complete with a SPAM link!! Well done! Ah yes, when I sip a Coca Cola, the first thing that pops into my mind is always "vanilla raisin". That and "diabetes mellitus".

  14. If you are sure it was new in 1957 then why do you want to date it? I looked it up and all the J-45's show a burst to fit your description. Prices all vary.

  15. Got mine yesterday at the Musicstore in Cologne Germany. They had two in stock, the second one had already been sold 2 hrs after I got mine. Just called them yesterday and was extremly lucky. I live nearby so I just went there, tested it and bought it. Thomann had three aswell, but they are sold already. Price: 4.299โ‚ฌ WHAT A BEAUTY!!! And the sound: WOW! Torally worth the money if you ask an Oasis-Diehard fan๐Ÿ˜‰ Just love it.

  17. Obviously very subjective but I would say it makes it more airy if that makes sense... What I do know about sound holes on electric guitars of that it makes them more prone to feedback when playing on stage.

  19. I finally found the last bit of wood for my build today.. Ironically, London Plane is their biggest seller and they usually have loads of it but have been out of the 50mm stuff for a month or so... So I have been waiting. But yes.. This makes me happy ๐Ÿ˜„ And if I can get a space in the workshop I will start it next week This is what I picked up today for the body wood.. (all of it is London Plane) ..Will obviously be a two piece body. This (if you missed it last time is the top wood which I am going to bookmatch (hopefully) And the neck piece (which will have an Ebony board)

  20. Tell you what---- Get married, have a couple of kids and get divorced after 15 years. I guarantee that a few years of dealing with the Friend Of The Court system, combined with a conniving vengeful ex wife and all those support and alimony payments will get you out of any frivolous spending habits you might have or might develop REAL quick. Regardless of how well you can afford anything. Whitefang

  21. I sometimes buy stuff I don't need at the time just because of the deal. I think it has to do with how you were brought up. My parents grew up during the depression in the US and scrimped and saved every penny they could. By the time I got to high school my father was making a very good living and they didn't need to do that, but still did. Because I was brought up in that environment I do it too even though I don't really need to anymore. I'll buy two cans of coffee at the grocery if it's on sale, even when I have an almost full can at home. There is a place that sometimes offers golf balls "buy 3 dozen - get a 4th dozen free". I can't pass it up. But I know eventually I will use all the coffee or golf balls or whatever, I don't think I've bought something and stuck it in the closet for 10 years and never used it.

  23. I don't know but if that's meant to be a Union Jack, the thin red stripes and the thick side-to-side one are positioned wrongly on the white background stripes. The designer has shortened the red stripe on the upper bout to line up with the pickup surrounds. Pedantic but I'm English. So I hope there are only 50 of them!!
