    1989 Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman w/OHSC Highly Moddified by Hot Rod Hargis

    I received this wonderful guitar with a lot of shipping damage along with years of abuse so...

    She got some mods....

    Has Mojo wear on the gold plating with some checking , scratches and scuffs on front & back.

     

    Body size at lower bout: 17". Scale length: 25 1/2" Nut Width: 1 3/4" Body depth: 1 3/4"

     

    Cosmetic Condition: Very Good, Various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & some finish wear with some buckle rash

    through the finish to the wood on the back.

    There's a professionally repaired headstock crack that is stable with no movement & does not affect playability or sound quality, original owners children

    said it was repaired by Gibson in Nashville, Nice job!

    Toxic Tone Wood? I thought it was me!

    Anyone else bothered by this? I knew cutting and working will cause irritation But I feel it just playing guitars made of some of these tone woods. New or vintage!
    I'm really into hollow bodies and as I get into the higher priced ones the worse I feel.

    Thanks everyone. I went with HP 415 CEX

    Antique Natural, Gloss Nitrocellulose lacquer finish, 4” deep Round Shoulder Dreadnought Cutaway body style.The HP 415 CEX is built with a AA Sitka Spruce top,
     Scalloped X bracing pattern with enhanced bracing pattern which allows the top to vibrate more freely for a bigger and bolder sound.
     Walnut back and sides, Multi-ply Black top binding, 16″ radius Walnut fingerboard with the Mother of Pearl Dot inlays on an Advanced Response profile shaped two
     piece Maple neck, 25.75” scale length, 1.725″ width at the nut, Topping of the features is a great sounding L.R. Baggs Element pickup system and hardshell case

    The 74 Gospel arrive and it's not what I was hoping for...... Everything is/was right when it was made but now the years have over taken her. Cracks in the top, bad repairs and the neck and top of the body is in a slow mo fold making the cracks move. 

    It's to bad, I really want one or a Gib this size with this nut.

    I will send this one back and keep hunting

    I am looking for more info on the 1st run  Gibson Chet Adkins Country Gent. Looking for the changes that where made at the factory and the Mods you did.

    I know Gretsch has wonderful CGs but please, Gibson only on this thread.

    Here is my 1989 Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman w/OHSC Highly Moddified by Hot Rod Hargis
    I recivied this with shipping damage along with years of abuse so it got some mod's
    Has wear on the gold plating.
    Has some checking , scratches and scuffs.Front & back.

    Body size at lower bout: 17". Scale length: 25 1/2" Nut Width: 1 3/4" Body depth: 1 3/4"

    Neck:  Medium profile maple neck with ebony fingerboard.  Red & white block fret markers starting at the 3rd fret (Rare). 
     Frets show little wear and have plenty of life in them. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition.

    Body: Semi-hollow maple body with single rounded cutaway.  Multi-bound top & back.ating ebony  Tortoise pickguard with 5-ply binding.  Guitar weighs 10.60 lbs.

    Materials: Maple laminate body; solid 3 piece maple neck; solid ebony fingerboard; thumbprint fingerboard inlay and thistle peghead inlay; 7 ply top binding,
     5 ply back binding, bound soundholes.

    Hardware: Original gold hardware includes Gibson Schaller 'Crank Winder' tuners with tulip keys, Gibson tuners are in perfect working condition.
     Tunematic roller bridge with inlaid ebony base with mother of pearl inlays.; Gibson 492R neck and 490T bridge humbucking pickups; 5 ply bound tortoise pickguard.

    Notes: Some three decades after Nashville superstar Chet Atkins debuted his original Country Gentleman model from the Gretsch company,
     he approached Gibson with some design refinements for a new version of the legendary model. The new instrument would be shallower in depth to
     make it easier to hold, have wider spaced pickups to facilitate fingerstyle play, and have a lighter weight body block to add sustain and curb feedback.
     A handily placed master volume knob, classic Bigsby, and generous 1 3/4" neck all ensured that the player had everything right at the fingertips.
     The result was the Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman.

    This striking guitar has been highly Moddified by Hot Rod Hargis, with 100% original gleaming cherry finish.
     Original gold hardware is in place, including Gibson's exclusive Shaller 'Crank Winder' tuners, each with a small lever that folds out from the tuning key
     to increase turning leverage, greatly increasing the speed of re-stringing. The neck has a gentle shallow D neck profile specified by Chet,
     and flawless action over excellent original medium jumbo frets.

    Case: Original deluxe Gibson arched plush Pink lined hardshell case.
