  1. Justin was a young ,caring ,talented man who wrote beautiful songs through a wounded soul . However hard he tried to get clean the wounds pulled him back under . I wish he was here putting pen to paper , blessing us with his honest story telling songs . I hope Justin is in a place where he can rest comfortably.

  5. Hello folks ,hope i can find an answer here . I bought a used j 45 ....how can i tell if the pins are bone or Tusq ? Thanks .
  6. That`s a real beauty , i wish guitars could talk and tell their story . Is that a photo you took JC ?
  7. I must say ,the Richlite fingerboard was great , looked great , slick and good feeling ,would never have thought it was a composite of glue and recycled paper or such . The bridge was looking like ebony but i`m sure it wasn`t . Really impressed with the the tone ,fit and finish . It was more toneful than the j 200 and the Bird hanging beside it .
  8. The wood in the rain forests of Brazil and other used and abused countries are not harvested in a sustainable manner . Those forests of timbre, flora and fauna are long long... RBSinto ....you can grow Walnut in your back yard Zone 5 a ...
  9. Good day all . Just back from a mask enhanced trip to Long and Mcquade for a little Covid browse . I played a 2019 j 45 Sustainable . Really a great sounding and playing axe .... i played every Gibson they had on the wall but kept coming back to the Sustainable . Bee wax finish on it ,not sure how that will hold up but . also Richlight finger board ..anyone have any info or comments ? Thanks.
  10. Gig bag ? How bout a nice gunny sack ? It worked for Johnny B Good .
  11. Well if any of you kind folk have a vintage j45 j50 for sale .......1 and 11 16th`s nut ...let me know . My son is a front line worker and i have been teasing the idea of a special gift . Thanks
  12. Like all relationships there`s good times ,bad times ,bumps and bruises, tears and laughter ...chalk it up to a growing correlation .
  13. Beauty bridge in 'She leads with her heart' ! Great looking guitar , nice job .
  14. Hi Kelly , how large is the bridge plate on your new j 50 ?
  15. Thanks for posting . I could listen to Steve`s stories and knowledge all day long .
  16. Hello Jim ,do your self a favour and buy a digital caliper . Cost should be between 20 -40 bucks . You will be able to measure your existing string pins and compare to other specs . Calipers are handy to have for many uses .
  17. That`s a beautiful guitar but...it was in the hands of a decent Luther ...and it comes back to the owner who is putting light gauge strings on it and tuning it a half step down or drop tuning to keep tension off the thing ? Come on ...if you can`t play that guitar tune 440 with light gauge strings on it..... it ain`t fixed ! Just my 2 cents worth .
  18. I think it`s pretty amazing that Mr. Hannon had googly eyes over a used 76 Dove in a shop ... He bought it and because of it`s unique voice and play ability was able to write some great songs with it . Gibson being Gibson has simply rubber stamped Hannon`s name and attributes to a Dove presently rolling off their line .
  19. Well it is a demo ,however the lad on the right really has no knowledge of a J 55 , vintage or reissue . And why the drop tuning mumbo Jumbo J55 . Just play the axe ...standard tune ...is that soooooo hard ? That`s a bad review .
  20. Hey ,does the serial number definitely point to a 68 ? I say ,judging by the more refined brace width it could be earlier . What is the serial if you don`t mind sharing ?
  21. Thanks for sharing . Late 60`s and 70`s Gibson flattops are underrated ,you can find some wonderful ones . Just ask John Cougar .
  22. histrings ....your center back brace appears thinner and more refined the Minor 7th`s axe .... That is a pair of beautiful late 60`s Gibson guitars . Gibson had a thing in the mid to mid 60`s with thin necks and narrow nuts ....for sure not for everyone . I had a 65 l.g. 1 with that affliction...gone gone gone !
