  1. Well I had my Tech sand the frets down [$150] .it plays better! but I feel like I shouldn't need that on a guitar that is less than a year old. Oh well ;play on!
  2. I bought this guitar about a year ago. I DO love it but ,it's off to a rocky start. First the under saddle pickup didn't pick up the low E string. Removed it for a k&k . Then one of the tuning pegs[Butterbeans] broke off. Gibson sent me a new set! Now my Luthier is finishing it up ; said the frets were all uneven. Well I hope this is the end of it!
  3. Hi I bought this guitar less than a year ago. It is buzzing all over the place and just won't stay in tune. I adjust the truss rod and nothing changes. It is brand new. I changed out the butterbean tuners for Grover tuners. no diff. I am Not a tech by any means. If I take it back to where I bought it;they will have it for weeks. anything else to try? I know this is pretty vague but I'm ready to give up and sell it.
  4. Thanks Bob , I called Bob ,nice guy and he is sending me a shim kit.
  5. Good info. I wonder if they sell shims that are different widths. I don't feel qualified to do this work. I have done the business card deal but it didn't work for me.
  6. I think my saddle was shaved down a little too much. I would like to buy a few of them to experiment . Where can I find them? I looked under accessories on this website but ;no go. Thank you.
  7. I 'm sure this is an old worn out question but what kind and what gauge arte we using on this guitar? I am using GHS Thincore ;12-50. Roundcore kind of strings.

Great advice ! I did this and a little pencil,it seems like it is hanging in there .I can retune and it seems to be staying in tune. Thanks !
  9. Hi guys ! I live in NJ, south jersey that is[ don't hold that against me , I'm a nice person] ha. Anyway I am 70 years old still work in the HVAC business ,this will be my last year. Raised three kids ,now it's just wife and I. I purchased my first Gibson about a year ago; an L-OO little blues guitar that I play Ragtimy blues on. I just fingerpick ,no flatpick. Love Doc and Chet pickin. I play either solo or with a trio at some breweries and wineries and farm mkts. .. well that 's my story and I'm glad I found this site!

Hi , the luthier did the whole job. It was setup last year when I bought it ;by him. I don't know ; It always seems like the low E when I use drop D tuning.... but then again it is all strings going out after I play. I fingerpick Blues so no heavy banging .

Hi I bought this guitar; brand new last Spring. Been having trouble keeping it in tune for the last few months. Gibson sent me new Butterbean tuners because I thought they were the major problem. I am not a fan of these tuners ,so I had my Tech install Grove tuners ;the closed ones ;which I prefer. After a few days and new strings ,I am still having trouble staying in tune. None of my other guitars are giving me problem ; well humidified here in the Northeast. Any ideas ? Thanks.
  13. Hi again; I don't think I can justify saving for the standard model. anyone else own the studio? Thanks.
  14. Hi , new to Gibson forum. I'm on AGF, and am interested in purchasing a Gibson L-oo standard. I've never owned a Gibson . I don't even remember playing one. I am an acoustic fingerstyle blues and ragtime player. [trying to be anyway]. any owners of this guitar here ? it is new to me and looks to be right up my alley! Thanks!
  15. Hi TomPhx Hmm, looks like the L-oo standard is the one worth saving for! That is more my style.
  16. thanks for the advice . i never knew that about walnut! my frets are wearing thin on my Martin OM28. i fingerpick chet or doc watson stuff. still considering this L-oo studio....?
  17. curious as to why you don't think the walnut fretboard will hold up...?
