    KINGS X !!

    I knew I liked you ...

They are playing a small little place. I am meeting my best friend there and we are spending a few days and seeing a show, gonna drink Tennessee whiskey and trying not to get arrested. A week or so ago I rocked Gretchen Goes To Nebraska and Dogman to get familiar with the songs I haven't heard in ages. My buddy says they usually don't leave Texas that much.

I can't sing enough praise for Sullys Straps. I have two:

    One like this: https://sullysstraps.com/products/guitarbanjo-02/

    And one like this: https://sullysstraps.com/products/guitar-banjo-1137/

They are handcrafted old school. No factory.

He will talk to you about measurements, how high or low you like to hold the guitar...

Buy a Sully's and you are done. Lifetime strap. The 1st one I linked to is really reasonable too, and it softens up over time. He also makes sure the strap button openings are properly sized.

    That second one ain't cheap.

    Hey guys

Trying to decide on a strap for my G4 standard....Mostly sit and play but love having a strap on so no holding required...My question is what is everyone using for this model(looks like it has a small button to fit strap over)..It also has to be easy to remove because it is hard cased for storage...

    thanks again

I like Levy's straps. Use a Grolsch grommet from a bottle of beer if you think it will come off. No mods needed. Buy beer and its a win win situation. If you like and drink beer.

I think you’ll like it here. Much cheaper to live cause of all the tourist money (which will be starting in a couple weeks). We right off 17 bypass maybe 20/25 minutes from little river. There’s a gambling boat that goes out of there that the wife has been hounding me to go on. I can think of much better ways to waste money.

My wife goes down more than me as I still work in Hampton, VA. I usually don't go down unless its a 3 day weekend. Its a 5 hour drive from the house in Newport Newst to LR. We go to Crab Catchers, International Cafe, Moto's (those are the main spots my wife likes, among  a few select others). My wife's father was best friends with the owner of International on Main Street. So we go every time we are down there. I wish more bands would come to House Of Blues, but it is an older folks place and a golf mecca. I'm 53 and my wife is 51. My wife knows the area well, as her Dad lived there for many years. I only started going down two years ago after he passed away and we inherited the house. The times I've been there and its tourist season gets on my nerves, but in the near future I'm gonna have to get used to it. My wife has no desire to go on the gambling boats and I did 23 years Navy and Coast Guard, so fuk ships and boats. Worked on them, lived on them, fixed em. Forget em. I like guitars.  And unless I'm in a  guitar store (I'll play an electric) I only own acoustics. No fuss. Tune, capo if needed, no amp, no worrying about what pedal to stomp on, amp setting,  or hearing "its too loud".  Next time I come down I'll PM you and we can meet up at GC.

Why the 333 costs about 40% of what a 335 does, I have no clue. It's almost the same thing, and with a few minor mods you can make it essentially identical. Has to be one of the best deals in guitar-dom.

Now Gibson is gonna reissue them and jack up the price 3k, and you'll get a gig bag.

Sold my last Gibson today, my Gibson Blues Hawk, I won't feel bad anymore about bringing Nitro finished guitars to such a humid climate...

I dumped last one after the infamous Mark video.  Virginia is humid but not as humid as Hawaii. Lived there for a year and a half. Had fun and enjoyed being called a Haole. Oh well at least milk isn't $5 a gallon where I live.

  7. Where are they from? I am sure there is a reason they are not at hit over here.  We got top shelf makers over here in the US like Gibson, Fender, Martin, and  then uber boutique stuff. I would even part together a Warmoth before getting something form overseas I've never heard of.

Today I received an e-mail from the shop, stating that since gibson can't deliver new guitars right now, I'll be getting an NOS one they have lying around. Its the exact same model I had, a memphis 1963 Es 335.

Now I'm getting real nervous. I never doubted my old guitar was ****ed,  never doubted Gibson would be caring for it, my concern was always, what can I do, when I get a new guitar I just don't like as much as the old one. Its not like getting a new laptop or something.

Don't want to came across unthankful, but I told the story above, it was a long search and now I'm stuck with whatever they send me.

    That is K rap.

I'm pretty much in the reverse camp.  The Everly/J-180 design is essentially that of the J-185 which came before it - Which I love, including the tonal characteristics of a good one.

What I don't like is anything about the Everly guitar's look.  Don't like black guitars, don't like the twin & massive pickguards, don't like the star inlays, and most of all, don't like the pin-less bridge as seen on the originals.

But the Everly connection is soooo cool!  Been a long time fan of the Everlys, including their father Ike's connection to Merle Travis.

I think the black looks bad @ss,  the massive double pickguard is overkill, and the star inlay are tight. I'm jonesing for a maple guitar. Owed a Guild JF-30 and did nothing for me. Would love a Dove or the smaller J-180 with out 2 football feilds worth of pickguard.

Here’s P. Townsend first on a J 200 then on a 60’s Everly  in my opinion this is maple tone at it’s best:

Notice that he’s not pounding the guitars to death ... his technique is such that he’s allowing  the guitar space to do it’s thing.

This Is what a guitar should sound like to me. And you will not get that sound out of anything but maple.

The parts where he is striking the guitar very rapidly still isn’t done with an iron fist.

Pete is one of the greatest chord bashers ever.
