I have An Epi Les Paul with gold hardware about 15 years old. I had it in it's hard shell case in a closet untouched for about 1 or 2 years.
When I finally got around to taking it out the hardware was rusted. All of the strings had rust on them near the bridge causing two of the strings to bust.
I cleaned the hardware, put on new strings, 4 days later the rust was back, even on the strings causing a new string to break.
I have four other guitars stored in the same spot and they are perfect.
Any solutions would be much appreciated.
I thought about replacing the hardware, but it just seems strange that this is the only guitar affected.
