  1. Ok, so I did get around to putting a set of TV Jones Classics into my Flying V, and I'm so glad I did. It's now the best sounding guitar I've ever owned in my 59 years of playing. TV Jones tech Adam advised the correct pickup rings. The installation went perfectly and it looks like it came from the factory with these pickups. Plugged into my amplifier.......I hear the voices of angels.
  2. I finally got around to it. I've been wondering about Gretsch FilterTron pickups in a Gibson guitar for a couple years. I've sold my Gretsch guitars and got a new Flying V, the antique natural one. TV Jones tech told me what I needed and I did the installation. It all went 100% perfectly, no drilling or misalignment problems at all. I plugged it into a tiny practice amp I've got here and I heard the voices of angels. Seriously, in my 59 years of owning and playing guitars, this sound took me by surprise. I have to say that it's the most beautiful tone I've ever owned in a guitar. I can't wait to plug into my larger, gigging guitar amp. Why did I wait so long?
  3. I'm considering installing a set of TV Jones Classics in a 2021 Gibson Flying V. Does anyone else have experience with the sound difference with these pickups in a Gibson body? I'm well familiar with the sound of Classics in a Gretsch guitar and I really like it. So that's why I'm asking about installation in a Gibson.
  4. I received one yesterday, and am very impressed with all aspects.
  5. Any owners here that have or had one of these? I'm considering trying one when they're available again. I'd like to know your feelings on the quality, cosmetic, structural, and soundwise.
  6. Does anyone have any solid information on the electronics of recent Chinese Casinos? Specifically the pots, switch, wiring ,and pickups. I've got a Casino coming that might be 1 or 2 years old. I am thinking of getting a set of Lollar p-90s to put in, if needed. I see he has 3 models of the Dog-Ear style available. Which one is the most popular and useful? Is everybody also replacing pots? What is the current value(500 or 250) used in the recent Chinese Casinos? How about thoughts on replacing the wiring harness and switch? Ideas on the best sources on any of these parts? Thanks for any suggestions.
  7. I've had my new Casino(in Natural) about a month now. I never did find any issues with either the finish or the electronics. I did put Elixir 9's on it and adjusted the trussrod. Much better for me. I bought a set of shims from Lollar and shimmed the bridge pickup to very near the strings and the neck pickup just a little. The pickup volumes are much more equal now. Instead of going the John Lennon version route, I'd like to find more of an ivory or cream-colored pickguard, pickup selector switchtip, and maybe a trussrod cover. If that doesn't happen, because there are no such things, I will try all of those parts in black.
  8. I don't know about the stickers, having not seen the older pickups, but a reply to my question to Epiphone said that the pickups are wound to 8.8k, These are on my November 2019 Casino. On this guitar they are bright and lively.
  9. I received a new Casino in the Natural finish late last week. I was prepared to find some kind of flaw, but happily, I found the guitar was flawless. The finish. the components, the sound and the setup were all wonderful for an out-of-the-box guitar. I also got all of the extras that are supposed to come with the guitar. Granted, as a player for 55 years, the most useful thing to me is the truss rod wrench. But to a younger player, even a beginner, they might appreciate the extras. My only quibble.........I sent an email asking about the pickups which was readily answered. I also asked about the general construction of the guitar(woods, tuners, etc.) and that part of my question was ignored. Currently, there is no information on the website, I guess the Casinos are undergoing some updates? All in all, I really like my new Casino.
