I just bought a used Frontman 65R. When I turn it on, it is quiet as a mouse, as soon as I plug a cable into it, even with no guitar plugged in, I get the obnoxious 60 cycle hum. I thought I bought a pretty good cable, but maybe not. Any thoughts? I know it's a Fender, but I'm among friends here, right? Thank you.

So next question. If I plug my passive guitar into a distortion pedal that has a battery and volume control, do I then plug that pedal into the active or passive jack on my amp?
