  1. I'm currently the best guitar player in our home because The Lovely Missus RBSinTo has never played the guitar, and my music bud who is much better than me, and comes over to play is not here. How's that? RBSinTo
  2. Before something or someone can be called the best, it is necessary to define the term, otherwise the designation is meaningless. RBSinTo
  3. Sheepdog1969, I didn't read the article you cited, but I assume that the experience you describe would result from many other group activities such as playing team sports. I'm 75, and play competitive hockey (I'm a goalie), with players, nearly all much younger than I am. And the satisfaction ( high) I get from playing well (winning or losing being irrelevant) is indescribable. RBSinTo
  4. DanvillRob, Sorry for the loss of your friend. May his memory be a blessing. RBSinTo
  5. Dave, Double necked guitars always remind me of conjoined twins. Feh. Not for me. RBSinTo
  6. tx-ogre, And if you ever tire of either part, you can saw it off and sell it, and still have a guitar to play. Is that great or what? RBSinTo
  7. Chief, Thanks but no thanks. I have enough problems with a double chin. RBSinTo
  8. For my electric needs, I have $125.00 amp originally purchased for my grand-daughter, and it more than enough amp for me, so I have no horse in this race. Having said that the second thing that strikes me about this amp (after the extraordinary price) is how its design makes it so completely unsuited to professional road use. Stacking components on stage, and storage considerations with its odd shape would make its use a nightmare. Feh. RBSinTo
  9. IanHenry, Maybe they lock the door after you enter so you must buy something to leave? Whatcha think? RBSinTo
  10. Larsongs, And I can hand out fresh picks as necessary. RBSinTo
  11. Phil OKeefe, A CNN article????? It's not like there are other really important issues to report on, so they had to do "serious investigative journalism" to tell this story. Just knowing that it was lost, recovered, and returned was far, far more than I ever needed to know, or cared about this business. RBSinTo
  12. Murph, Also easy to spot those who weren't guitar players. On the other hand (sorry, couldn't help myself), I'll bet you wouldn't find many gigs in the countries that still impose those sorts of punishment. Or cool music stores to hang around in either. Be careful what you wish for. RBSinTo
  13. Karloff, Those who don't even like a happy beginning. RBSinTo
  14. Murph, I doubt that anyone would come forward to claim that "distinction" after so many years. It was the act of a dishonest person, who if they are still living might be ashamed to admit to being a thief in their younger days. We admire people who steal bases, not basses. RBSinTo
  15. Sheepdog1969, Your idea will only be terrible if people convince me to take part, which will ruin the final product. RBSinTo
  16. Notes Norton, Words of wisdom for anyone participating in any group activity, musical or otherwise. RBSinTo
  17. jdgm, I think the solution for me is to move to a planet where the days are longer, so I have more time every day to practice. Whatcha think? RBSinTo
  18. I saw a video recording of me playing a couple of weeks ago in my music teacher's pupils recital, and realized that regardless how much I practice, it isn't enough. RBSinTo
  19. Now listening to "Dream a little dream" cover by Cass Elliot and the Mamas and Papas, as I am starting to learn the finger-picking part. This will be one of the two songs I'll play at my next recital. RBSinTo
  20. Sparquelito, What I want to know is why do you spend time picking up little pieces of crap from the road? Should we be alarmed, or just feel sad? RBSinTo
  21. Chief, It is called the CFL (Canadian Football League) and differs from American Football in that it has only three downs, rather than four. There are other differences, but I don't follow it, so I can't describe them. The CFL is really nothing more than minor league football, with most players being either Americans who aren't good enough to play in the NFL, and Canadians because there are quotas for each teams rosters. Yes we have a lot of sports cups up here in The Great White North: Football-Grey Cup, Hockey-Stanley Cup, Lacrosse (which is actually our national sport)-Mann Cup, My Goalie Jockstrap- RBSinTo's Cup RBSinTo
  22. Super Bowl. That's football right? Don't ever follow that stuff, didn't plan to watch, and fortunately had my own hockey game to play in last night so I manged yet again, to miss it. RBSinTo
  23. Rodney, Your friendly neighbourhood Luthier is your best bet to get your problem corrected. RBSinTo
  24. My Zaidy (the Jewish version of a Granddaddy) didn't carry a pocket-knife. Instead, he had pockets full of candies and small change that he gave to us, his grandchildren, always warning us not to tell "the Bubba" (the Jewish version of Grandma). Worth a song? Maybe so. RBSinTo
  25. PrairieDog, Forgive me if I'm treading on your toes, but I truly don't understand anyone's actions or reactions stated in this post. RBSinTo
