  1. I like 2.25mm string height at the 12th fret - 4.0mm is way too high.

I also use .012" Lights on my Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1957 SJ-200 - my guitar is very warm sounding and I prefer these strings.

doh. Going sans washer on screw-in bushing could definitely make a mess out of the headstock. The Gotohs do look nice, though.

Are the tuners on the Legend (below) press-fit ?

No washers so I'd say yes, press fit. Only Martin were silly enough to fit washers with press fit bushings - the bushings couldn't sit home properly, they sat too high, the washers came loose and created buzzing noise - simple remedy was remove bushing, throw away washer, re-fit bushing!

'Could be the lighting(?). But oh yes Dman, put those tuners & hardware in a plastic bag and give it a heft. . . you've definitely lightened things up by losing those Rotos.

. . . and you might be able to lose the "hubcaps" off of the face of the headstock with the addition of the appropriate tuner bushings.

Those new tuners are open back but they have a screw in bushing like sealed gear tuners so they use the washer and nut.

  4. My wife Linda found out that our dog (a Schnauzer) could hardly hear, so she took it to the veterinarian. The vet found that the problem was hair in the dog's ears. He cleaned both ears, and the dog could then hear fine. The vet then proceeded to tell Linda that , if she wanted to keep this from recurring, she should go to the pharmacy and get some 'Nair' Hair Remover and rub it in the dog's ears once a month. Linda went to the store and bought some 'Nair' Hair Remover. At the register, the pharmacist told her, "If you're going to use this under your arms, don't use deodorant for a few days." Linda said, "I'm not using it under my arms." The pharmacist said, "If you're using it on your legs, don't use body lotion for a couple of days." Linda replied, "I'm not using it on my legs either. If you must know, I'm using it on my Schnauzer." The pharmacist said, "Well, then.....stay off your bicycle for at least a week."

  5. My intro to PF goes back to Meddle - then Dark Side got played to death and I didn't care if I never heard it again - Wish You Were Here was a refreshing change and possibly my favorite PF album - The Wall has moments of brilliance and blocks of crap, it's a mixed bag - after that PF briefly became the Roger Waters Project then the Not Roger Waters project - Dave had a couple of really good solo albums.

  6. Battersea power station - has undergone an incredible transformation.

"Battersea A" was decommissioned in 1975. In 1980 the whole structure was given Grade II listed status; "Battersea B" shut three years later. In 2007 its listed status was upgraded to Grade II*. The building remained empty until 2014, during which time it fell into near ruin. Various plans were made to make use of the building, but none were successful. In 2012, administrators Ernst & Young entered into an exclusivity agreement with Malaysia's S P Setia and Sime Darby to develop the site to include 253 residential units, bars, restaurants, office space (occupied by Apple and No. 18 business members club), shops and entertainment spaces. The plans were approved and redevelopment commenced a few years later. As of 2021, the building and the overall 42 acres (17 ha) site development is owned by a consortium of Malaysian investors.

  7. Martin guitars used it too.

I had a Martin Grand J12-40E Special - their first ever super jumbo guitar with 17" lower bout.

They already used the 'Jumbo' nomenclature for the 14-fret 0000/M body that Chris Martin himself had built with fuller dreadnought body depth so they just added the word 'Grand' to the new body size.

Oh, and there was no Martin Grand J12-40E ... they were all the same, no lower spec model.

  8. The original Brit series 'Steptoe & Son' was brilliant - it was re-made in the US as 'Sandford & Son' which I've not seen.

Didn't like the US version of 'The Office' after watching the original but I gave it time and it grew on me.
