I think this video proves 2 things : - You don't need a 10K $ guitar to make great music, you need talent. - J15 sounds great and has been chosen by someone that could afford any other guitar.

I won't say anything about the "budget" point, which is became annoying. J15 is "mass-produced" as much as any Gibson standard guitar. And definitely it doesn't seem overproduced like a J45, which is usually the first guitar that mommies provide.

I'm inclined to go with the bird. Anyway I realized that the Songwriter is a rosewood Hummingbird Artist. I'll wait till I can try it then I'll make my choice.

I would agree with you if my question was "which is better". I asked which dread would blend well with a walnut jumbo, based on your experiences. I've went many times to my local music store, played bird and dove, not the songwriter tho.

I played a Dove and it’s great. But I found maple to be very similar to walnut: quick decay, very dynamic, mid forward, granulate top end... Maybe a mahogany would make a better carpet for my walnut to sit on.

Yes they all have different wood, I’m wondering which would be the most interesting match with walnut. I’ll get a new one, natural finish. I don’t need to be warned about the price, I got a J15 because I definitely prefer its sound over that of J45, not for a matter of price.

Just realized that a multi award winning, platinum selling singer-songwriter, can't afford a J-45. [sarcasm] Here is Passenger with his J-15, the guitar he chose for that song, even if he owns J-45, Hummingbird and others.

The funny thing is that the J-45 Original is definitely more expensive than the Standard. At least in European shops it is.
