The one change Gibson made that ruined Gibson guitars.

Jeff Beck using a Squier strat and a Line 6 would smoke all of us, badly. 😄. Better to spend time practicing than sniffing neck heels. -

Here, I'll attack the premise to get another response. AI bot? Fuji, you're wrong. The reason different Les Pauls sound different is because they don't all have the same pickups. AI bot reply says what? -

It gets stranger. This is the only thread this user has posted in or started on this forum. But ... JOINED October 23, 2015 🤔 -

You need to post a clip of your playing before you go talking that talk. Let's hear that golden tone from your "proper" Les Paul and all the amazing riffs you've learned over the years. If you can't do that following your critical (and baseless) comment, you are just a 🤡. Wild guess here .... you're Russian? -
Has Your Case Candy Ever Been A Watch?

As impressed as I am, I can't say I have ever managed to break any rinky dink pins on any watch I have ever owned. -
Has Your Case Candy Ever Been A Watch?

Love that watch. 👆 I have a slight obsession with watches and time pieces. Just recently picked up this Casio watch. Not a brand I love, but this one makes the cut with its simple clean design and reasonable price. -
I think it's probably going to be a niche thing, a Gibson boutique amp. Resale value? That has never entered into my equipment buying decisions.
-
Exactly my thoughts. A great sounding Mesa amp in classic style with a Gibson logo slapped on there? I think it's a great idea marketing wise. And they'll still sell Mesa amps. Win/win.
-
Indeed, but also, there is a reason he chose that amp. I have the tweed version of a Pro Jr and I have a fully functional and amazing sounding 1969 Super Reverb (silverface, but I had an amp technician "blackface" the circuit). Each sounds amazing to my ears and there is no overlap. Keep in mind, the Pro Jr is an EL84 amp.
-
Jeff Beck used a 15 watt Fender Pro Jr on stage (not exclusively, but he used it for some songs). Any amp can be loud enough when you put a mic in front of it.
-
Yep. +1 They will sell. Imagine playing your Gibson guitar out of your Gibson amp. That alone is worth it. And I bet they sound better than anything Gibson put out in the past.
-
If that's true, then the history of the new Gibson amp starts with a Fender amp. 🙃 "Mesa was started by Randall Smith as a small repair shop which modified Fender amplifiers, particularly the diminutive Fender Princeton." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesa/Boogie

Cabin fever leads to unconventional invention
ghost_of_fl replied to sparquelito's topic in The Gibson Lounge
Nope, it's logic. In some northern areas it snows WAY too often to shut everything down every time there's a new snow dump. Some areas would need to hibernate for the winter. So, we adapt. Perhaps necessity has taught us to be better at adapting to extreme cold environments. That doesn't sound stupid. Yawl can shut everything down and install nails in your shoes every time it get a little slippery, go for it. But it seems like ordering a couple bags of snow melt and storing them in the garage/shed/closet BEFORE you need it would be a good idea. That stuff doesn't really go bad as long as you keep it dry. -

We silly yanks just use rock salt. 😄 -
I was just goofing on the marketing department and their descriptive phrases. My amp has "shimmer". No wait, it's "sparkle". These words are brand-specific.
-
I feel stupid now. My amp didn't come with any "hypnotic throb". Now I want some throb. Is there a pedal for that?
