  1. I used to have the Fostex version of that. It had an internal hard drive. Loads of fun. That should scratch your recording itch, time to RTFM.
  2. Thank you so much for letting me know! We were talking about audio quality in DAWs. I don't know any other songs I can say for sure "this was absolutely made using FL Studio", this is the example I know where you can hear the recording quality. I am not a fan.
  3. So you think amplifiers in other countries are prone to break down over time? Even if they use the same exact components (many of which are sourced from China no matter where you're building the amp)?
  4. Just about every single flagship smart phone including the iPhone is made in China. That must be why they're so cheap. 🤠 So I'm guessing you must have a quality American Made "Librem 5" smartphone? How are you liking it?
  5. Yes, Fender Pro Junior, $704.43 out the door from Sweetwater. Then I bought it. 😁 That Fender logo on a tube driven tweed amp is just .... ICONIC.
  6. Yes, that's exactly what I use - I do all the tracking in FL Studio and mix down to a WAV file. Then I import that WAV into audacity where I can trim the ends and use the limiter to boost the track. It's just a nice simple interface and rock solid app.
  7. I have done a lot of home recording. One thing I could not live without is a USB interface. I use a Focusrite which gets the job done. I have the lowest basic model. It's great. Why an interface? Because it reduces latency. That's the delay between the time when you play a note and the time it gets recorded on the computer. Without an interface, you would need to compensate for latency which is a huge pain. For a DAW, I use FL Studio. I'm weird with that, it's not a popular choice but it's the one I know. Here is an example of a recording made with FL Studio: That's the very basic equipment you need to multitrack on a computer. A decent PC/laptop, a DAW and an interface. With a DAW the number of tracks is practically infinite. There is no need to bounce tracks. You mentioned "1/2" analog input devices" - did you mean 1/4" like a guitar plug? Or 1/8" like headphones connector? Don't want to spend a small fortune? The interface is pretty cheap. In my case, the software cost me as follows: $100 gets you in the door but you can't use external sources. Another $100 and I can use external sources Another $100 got me a bunch of very useful plugins So in my case, $300 for the software (I could have stopped at $200) and maybe $120 for the interface. Also you need a decent computer so whatever that costs you. Figure $800-1500 for a good powerful PC that won't crap itself on larger compositions. Hope this helps.
  8. Cute, but the real reason for the warnings all over everything is because the overly litigious boomer generation started so many frivolous lawsuits, the manufacturers had to start protecting themselves with dummy warnings. "Waaaaaah my coffee was too hot and I burned my mouth waaaaaaahhhh I need financial compensation". 😭
  9. Remember that cartoon "Ventrioquist Cat" from the 1950s? The cat would "throw his voice" to various objects. The object or whatever would appear to say "meow meow" and the dog would beat the crap out of whatever the object was. In this analogy: The cat throwing his voice = Fox News and I will give you one guess who the dogs are. The various objects are the Fox News hitlist of companies and people. It has been hilarious to watch. A bunch of people coming off half cocked with a sliver of information, getting up on their little soap boxes and declaring "I shall no longer consume Budweiser products. From this point forward, I shall drink Yuengling! It is far superior to Bud!". And then you point out that Yuengling is currently sponsoring drag shows for people under 18 - and suddenly that "superior" product is instantly and magically transformed to p*ss water. And when I point out the stupidity of that? Oh you can guess what comes next. The same morons decide you MUST be a "liberal" because you refuse to buy the obvious BS Fox is selling. You either believe every opinion, er I mean "News" story or you are a liberal. AND if you believe all those comments on Fox news stories are coming from real Americans, guess again. You may very well be talking to the Russian government social media wing. Or North Korea. Or China. Or Antifa. Or the "far reich"..... Um I mean "far right". And you will say "but it's not just Fox saying these things". But please keep in mind, the majority of media companies are owned by 6 companies: AT&T, CBS, Comcast, Disney, Newscorp, Viacom Also, if you want to boycott Disney, then stop reading Fox News. Disney owns Fox corp. 🤦‍♂️ The above rant is not political. It is the opposite. It's anti-media, the people who are behind all the "us vs. them"-ism that has gotten out of hand. Smart people don't listen to "Ventriloquist Cat".
  10. Somewhere off in the distance, a 23-year-old multi-millionaire cries herself to sleep in her mansion because she has failed to earn the respect of the Gibson forum flies. 😭
  11. This will be my last post here, figured I’d go out with a bang. I have a great collection of stomp boxes. My 100 watt Mustang III digital modeling amp was overkill for recording. I wanted a really simple small tube amp that always sounds good. Fender Pro Junior IV 1x10" 15-watt Tube Combo Amp $649.99 from Sweetwater. “Capable Little Tweed Tone Vehicle” It has: Volume knob Tone knob On/Off switch Preamp Tubes: 2 x 12AX7 Power Tubes: 2 x EL84 1 x 10" Jensen P10R No reverb circuit. I have it set up for recording. I’m using a Klon and a Boss CP-1X compressor in front of the amp, along with various effects and overdrive/fuzz pedals. This is a very good pedal platform. I was concerned it might not be because all of the reviews I found only talk about cranking the volume on the amp and using your volume control on the guitar for live performance. That sounds great too, but it’s too loud for what I’m doing. The single tone knob works so well for me. I just backed it off until the highs weren’t too much, ended up with the tone knob on “3” and it sounds amazing. Volume knob is on 2 (the Klon boosts the input). The cabinet is only 15” across, but I have to say, the lows sound so good and deep. It’s uncanny what this amp does with such a small cabinet. This will turn a lot of people off - doesn’t bother me considering how it sounds: Construction Material: 0.75" Particle board cabinet I came very close to buying: Vox AC15C1 Fender Blues Jr Marshall Origin (1x10" 20-watt) I love this simpler option. And $650 taint bad. The sound of the amp to my ear is actually closer to a Vox or Marshall amp than a typical Fender. I guess because of the EL84s? It’s somewhere in the middle. Still has Fender DNA. And lastly …. It’s a tweed amp. Not a real one but still, I love hearing that crazy good sound coming out of my tiny tweed amp. Some other guys who supposedly used Pro Juniors: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Brian Setzer, Warren Hayes Shout out to Jared at Sweetwater. I bought it right before Memorial Day and somehow, he got it to me before the end of the holiday break. I didn’t expect it until the following week. Yeah so this is my last post. I’ll just say certain aspects of being a member of this forum were getting annoying. Oh, and I was on the fence about this: Gibson Les Paul Special - TV Yellow $1,799.00 or Fender American Professional II Telecaster - Butterscotch Blonde $1,799.99 Decisions decisions. 🤔 Think I’ll be going with the Telecaster. Anyone know any good Fender-based forums? I know about Strat-Talk. Peace/out Here’s a video of a guy using a Pro Jr and a Klon with a Les Paul for a gig:
