  1. I guess it depends on how you define "spamming", eh? Do the points have any monetary value?
  2. Too bad I wasn't told WHAT I said that resulted in this warning! The thread was taken down it seems, (or at least I can no longer access it. Hi DanvillRob, You have been warned by cammo for a comment made in a topic, Francis Scott Key Bridge Crashed By A Ship... Reason: Spamming Content: Francis Scott Key Bridge Crashed By A Ship... Penalty: Given 1 point which will never expire. — Gibson Brands Forums
  3. I changed the tuners on my J-50 also.... but I didn't mind them or the way they worked...they were just old....and pretty much worn out.....and I had a nice set of of old Grovers laying around.
  4. I think it's stunning.....If I had room for another guitar, I'd consider a J-45 for sure!
  5. Sarge, that shouldn't be a problem.... I intend to leave this house feet-first. Our son already owns a multi-million dollar home in Silicone Valley (since he works at Apple). It'll be up to him to sell, move in, give to one or more of his kids, or whatever he wants to do with it. Our home is perfect for old folks.... one story..... low maintenance (relatively) yard, solar, home generator, recently renovated master bath & kitchen, will be putting in hardwood floors in the living room, family room and dining room this year. I'm hoping to be around long enough to see my grandkid(s) move in..... or our son, if he wants and doesn't have to commute from Danville to San Jose. His wife has already quit her 6-figure job to stay home and raise their kiddies....so half the commute is handled!
  6. Just remember the story I told of my good friend who got a zero turn mower.... drove it off a cliff on his property and killed hisself! I don't have a lot of property compared to you.....I have only an acre, (but in the SF Bay Area that's like owning a kingdom), and my back yard has phony lawn....and I pay my gardeners to cut the weeds down on the upper lot....so I don't even own a mower at all.
  7. I would have sworn I've seen an ad for a J-50 with a burst on it...... but I'm old and get confused easily.
  8. What it lacks in Pickguard, it makes up for in Mojo.
  9. I don't know....as I said, it was a gift to me from my crew when I retired. It says J-50....that's all.... I put Grovers on it because the old Klusons were very old and too hard for my arthritic hands to tune....and I had the Grovers just laying around. It is an absolutely wonderful guitar... was my workhorse until the bursitis caused me to go back to my Jubilee since it's smaller to practice on every day.
  10. Looks like a wonderful axe. Make sure you post some photos of it, or even better, a video.
  11. My Norlen-Era (1975) J-50 has the teardrop pickguard.
  12. I usually don't acquire something I don't totally love..... guitars, cars, houses, women, dogs, jobs...this list goes on forever!
  13. Good stuff! But your guitar has the pickguard on the wrong side of the sound hole, (not to mention that it's tuned one semi-tone flat). I really enjoyed it!
  14. I've had my first Gibson (Jubilee) for maybe 52 years. (it's a 1969 or 1970 model) I've had my Dove for about 44 years. (It's a 1979 model) My DIF I've had for 15 years. (made in 2003) My 'Bird I got brand-new in 2011 (so I've been able to experience it through it's entire 15-year life) The 12-String 'Bird I got in 2018. (the ONLY Right-Handed 'Bird 12-String made in 2010) The J-50 was given to me in 2020, (1975 model) So, I'm obviously not a horse trader.... I still have every Gibson Acoustic I've ever owned. Does that make me a bigamist?
  15. I've recorded well over 500 songs for my grandkids....so I well know what my voice sounds like....and it still sucks!
  16. PHOTOS! (a video would be even better!)
  17. A very interesting video.
  18. Have you tried the Epiphone forum?
  19. I have 2 Gibson acoustics that have had neck repairs. One was repaired by me...and I've been playing it for over 50 years. The other was repaired by Gibson, (it's a 12-String). Had it for maybe 6-7 years....zero issues. You might get the price down a little, but it is a beautiful guitar.
  20. In my head, I sound like Marty Robbins....when I listen to my singing, it's more like Ariana Grande, (without pitch control).
  21. That's exactly what this case is....a coffin.... Good description!
  22. I have my Father-In-Law's fiddle from when he was a kid. He was born around 1925.....so this fiddle has been in the family since 1930 or 31. Don't know how old it was when he got it, but I took it to a prominent luthier who rebuilt it completely. When I did that, I bought a new modern case for it, but I kept the original case... it wouldn't be much protection if given, for example, to Amtrac to handle, but I wanted it to stay with the fiddle.
  23. Guess that's better than a "Case of two tails"!
