Aww, stuff happens.  We got in similar trouble when we brought in a momma cat and her two kittens from the cold.  We did not know much about kitten biology… when we took everyone in to get fixed, we found out we were too late for the little girl.  We ended up with kittens who all had umm, “special needs” and most weren’t expected to make it past kittenhood.  So we decided they would stay with us in our office for their short little lives and we would keep them safe and warm.  Apparently we did a really good job, because they all made through to have long lives. We just lost the last of the crew 17 years later.  Of course, with them all being about the same age, it was pretty miserable for a couple years as they all went around the same time.

    You're a good person, Dog.

Life is what happens while we're making other plans.

We have two Affenpinschers, so I told the wife there was no way we'd keep the new puppy.....but..... she's stolen my heart......so she's here for the long run!

Once you post the link, I put the cursor at the end of it and hit enter and the picture pops up,

If it’s a pic of a black dog, then that is your link.

Yes, I used a photo of the new puppy....we call her "Backyard Barbie" 'cause her mom & dad are siblings!    (was a mistake breeding).

"The City of New Orleans".     I wouldn't call it 'work, because I enjoy it.  And I do it when I feel like it. No rush.   Funny how a song you've 'heard a million times' suddenly attracts your attention. I assume it's not because the song changed, but because my musical  taste/appreciation  has.    Last one I learned was from the musical "Hamilton".  I have no idea what inspired me to tackle that one!   "You'll Be Back".

My problem (one of them) is that I've taken a vacay on keeping up on the playlist of songs I had nailed - for a couple of years.  And they're starting to get fuzzy.  I need to change my attitude and not let little things like cutting the grass get in the way.   Since I have a small, captive audience of a wife and 3 dogs - there is no real  'fan appreciation' factor.

40....you're speaking my language!     I've heard songs all my life, that suddenly catch my attention.

I think it's because songs take us back to times and places and events from out past.....and as you acquire more wisdom, they mean so much more.

I put an arrangement together of "The City Of New Orleans" some years ago..... Steve Goodman songs are tougher than they appear!

Back in the 80's I fiddled with a song by Simply Red called "Holding Back The Years".

I had the words saved, but thought I would put an arrangement together.

His voice is very high, so that was one hurdle to overcome.

I'm having a lot of trouble with bursitis in my right shoulder (reaching over the dreds), but I have something cobbled together I'll try to record later today.

I actually recorded it earlier today.

Currently learning "Blackbird" by that British Invasion group from Liverpool.

It is my present assignment from my music teacher, and the most difficult part (aside from his insisted upon fingering positions) is my badly torn left Rotator Cuff which makes just holding a guitar very painful.

To try and mitigate the discomfort, I'm using my smallest body, a 12-fret Washburn  Parlour, instead of my Martin & Gibson Dreadnoughts, or Guild Jumbo. Still hurts like hell, but a boy's gotta do what a boy's gotta do.

I actually learned (my arrangement) of Blackbird some years ago....it was very satisfying!

Not sure if that’s how it should be. If it’s the real deal what’s the issue? Do you play the back? I strum the front on my guitars.

Sarge, I've heard you play....maybe strumming the back would help!

I'm calling the eclipse my Woodstock experience. As I was only 10 at the time of the first Woodstock so I was too young to go. But seeing the movie and having older friends and uncles tell me the horror stories of the closed NY State Thruway always stuck with me.

I was drafted on August 13, 1969.    Woodstock was held on August 15 through 17, (although Jimi played on the morning of August 18.).

So, I was in boot came when this happened....and they sure as heck didn't let us off!

  10. So sorry for your loss.   I recall your talking about him.

I lost my dad 26 years ago.

Lost one of my oldest cousins yesterday.... he was 89, (would have been 90 in July).

Life is fleeting....enjoy each day as if it was your last....one day it will be.

I only played a V once and it slides down your leg when seated. I’ve seen lots of pics of Michael Schenker and he shoves the bottom part of the V between his legs.

I had some "V" guitars here for awhile, (I had to sell my cousin's 44 guitars).... he had a couple of "V's".    Since I play mostly sitting down.... they aren't the right guitar for me.

Thanks for the interest guys. After further study of the info on this site, 1965 seems right. It's hard to adjust to that as it was quite used when I got it.

I also notice the pearl dots on the bridge. Also, I got it in a case with the red plush lining. However, the case is missing any logo on the outside and there is no "string" on it now for the lid. It does have a molded handle with stitching. So may not be a Gibson case at all. I appreciate everyone's help. Have a great new year.

I got my 1974 J-50 new and took very poor care of it. After it became unplayable I had a luthier fix it up around 2013 and he did a great job. When I picked it up I asked if there were any problems and he said the only problem was, he didn't want to give it back. 🤣  My son in law liked it so much, he's had it on permanent loan for many years now.

But here are a few old pictures, you can barely see the label inside. It has some nasty stains, probably from kids and cats who liked putting things into it over the years. I checked and old receipt, and its serial number also begins with "A".

The original tuners were a mess, one was broken and they were all very stiff from the start so I replaced them with the Gibson in this photo which I got at Guitar Center before I knew there were nice replicas of the originals available elsewhere. Here's what the originals looked like though.

    That is just beyond sweet!

I just noticed in the article that they mentioned that Jimi Hendrix and Elvis Presley both played Gibson guitars, yet they posted a picture of Jimi with a Strat - fail. They couldn’t find a picture of Jimi with a Gibson? It takes about 3 clicks of a mouse and you can find one.

I noticed the same thing....Let's face it....Jimi is most closely associated with a Strat..... Clapton has had a multitude of guitars over the years.

  15. When I was  working in Kalamazoo, I went to "The Museum Of Sound" there..... a lot of Gibson history there, along with Heritage Guitars, (built by Gibson luthiers after Gibson closed down the factory there).

I recall I was working in a bus shop in the night..... a bus was brought in early because someone shot a window out while it was on it's route..... made me realize I shouldn't go out at night there!

Funny.... I was in the October, 1966 issue of Newsweek Magazine.... one of our old managers had a Zerox copy of the article.

Glad we just talked about this....I ordered an old copy of Newsweek, October, 1966....cost me $45, but I dind't have one.
