  1. Trying to figure out what the tuners are that I pulled off this old guitar. The tuners say Gibson Deluxe, but on the back is stamped "P.W." I am assuming they are Ping, but when did Gibson start using these tuners? I have no need for them but would like to know if they are worth anything. Any info would be appreciated. They are kinda greenish in color. Thanks
  2. Made a mistake. It's a 1956. Serial number on neck block starts with a "V", not an A.
  3. it is 5mm thick or .196" at the sound hole. pretty thick. I'm pretty sure its laminate because of the thickness. hard to tell looking at it.
  4. I guess my topic was hi-jacked. Oh well, thanks anyway. I got the guitar and plugged into my 67 deluxe reverb it sounds great. Unplugged, not so much.
  5. Thanks. I'm only buying this to help out a friend. If I like it, I'll probably keep it. It's a vintage Gibson. We haven't come to a final selling price yet and I don't want to stiff him. I have a limit to what I can spend too.
  6. I just wanted Gibson guitar members with any experience with this model to shed an opinion. I have sold a guitar or two on Reverb and Ebay, but I should have stated my needs a little clearer.
  7. I'm purchasing this guitar friday of this week from a friend. Probably for a flip, but I have a few questions. So much disparity in pricing online for that model. I'm wondering your opinions on real value and the best way to market this instrument. This one is all original, serial number correct, bridge correct, tuners correct and electronics sound good. A two-owner guitar. I'll be the third. but I'm having my luthier go over it and setting it up for perfect intonation and action. Redressing or replacing frets as needed, making sure the neck is perfect angle with correct saddle break for the strings. I'm a player, but I have enough guitars at the moment. Just can't afford to keep adding. Plenty of checking and I wouldn't grade it as excellent, just good. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks. I can add pics on Friday or Saturday, then it's off to the luthier.
  8. I had the adjustable bridge removed, put a rosewood saddle on a fixed rosewood bridge ('62LG2). Amazing sound. Slotted the bridge holes and used ebony unslotted pins. Amazing improvement. Could have stayed with bone, but I love the deep warmth of the rosewood saddle. Easy to swap out too.
  9. How much for the chet atkins?
