  1. I just made pictures of some of my guitars: SJ-200 Standard 2000 Frank Hannon ‚Love Dove‘ Hummingbird Standard 2018 Martin D-18 MD 2019 But I can‘t put them into this post. For some reason my size limit is 0.03MB. Not one of the guitars looks as bad as the one of the OP. Martin is the cleanest but no problems with the Gibsons.
  2. But I‘m an all-six-at-once-guy and to old to switch to a three-and-three-guy. Did anyone ever cause a problem on guitars by changing all strings at once?
  3. I might have been to quick with my judgement. Your opinion is much more thoughtful than mine. It is still your guitar! 🙂
  4. Those must be really perfect godlike guys if their level of ethics is that high. If you repaint the guitar you bought you can do with it what you want. If you make changes to fake a higher grade model and try to sell it without mentioning would be unethical. But that’s not the case here. To me it is unethical if someone limits your right to handle your guitar in the way you want.
  5. It seems you are not the only lucky one: Congrats! I love the looks.
  6. Wow! It works, I'm impressed. Thanks Dave! Ha! And one more:
  7. Wanted to show another pic, but it seems I used the 02 MB already in the post above.
  8. The more my belly moves downwards the more I like guitars with a belly up bridge! Guys you made me crazy with that guitar. So, 5 minutes ago I bought one! Sundown, that's your fault, just saying. 🙂 It should be exactly this one from a nice store in Germany that make pics of each and every guitar they sell. So, this ist mine now:
  9. Servus docr, yes I know, Thomann ran out of the coated PB And the MB. Doesn’t even mention a possible delivery date. I bought 2 sets of their SAG strings and they are listed as sold out too now. I would also be very interested in a replacement. Greeting from Vienna
  10. Hello Woody! Hello sundown! Wonderful! That will be my next guitar purchase. Sadly they are not available for a long time here in Europe. I‘m jealous.

How did you record that? Vocals and guitar at once with 2 mics? I asked because I hear some phasing that can be caused if 2 mics pic up the the same signal from different positions. That phasing can also be caused by your mastering software if you use sound field effects (widener, etc.).
  12. Can you still buy Gibson acoustic strings (coated or uncoated PB and 80/20) in the US? They seem to be sold out completely here in Europe.
  13. Thanks, Sal, interesting.
  14. What a crazy homepage! Did you get a new fretboard and replaced the original one?
  15. Sorry James, I have no idea where my had has been 16 ours ago when I called you Dave.😲 And yes, that guitar looks very sharp, congrats!
  16. Nice name inlays on your D-15. How did you do that?
  17. I used mediums on my Hummingbird and had no problems. I also read more than once that all Gibsons can stand mediums.
  18. I‘d say, you are a lucky guy, Dave. I think, the split parallelograms are the best inlays ever. Cool looking guitar! Could be that Gibson produced more Hummingbird fretboards than they sold Hummingbird guitars and found a good use for those fretboards. Something like those ‚Hummingdoves‘ they made in the past when they used the Dove maple bodies for Hummingbirds.
  19. I think, Gibson decided for that recreation because: - there is a story behind that special 1976 Dove that got lost and is back now - a top 10 hit was written and played on it (not sure how many top 10 hits are based on a Dove) - the hit was called ‚Love Song‘ and what’s better than ‚Love Dove‘ - the musician behind the guitar is still active and his handwriting is nice enough for the ‚Love‘ on the TRC 🙂 (mine would have been a disaster) I can understand, that all of this made the marketing people quite happy.
  20. Hey guys/girls! After watching the news, I just want to thank all of you, the forum, the moderators that places like this exists. I only bought a new guitar, got so many nice words, great information and a great feeling just because of all this, just because of you! Thank you, that’s the part of the world I love! Just wanted you to know. Peter
  21. Honestly, I thought the same too. But there was no other Dove around. And the second hand ones were too far away to try and also quite expensive. Buying used guitars unseen is not what I want. BUT I found out: My Love Dove has bone nut and saddle, not the cheap Tusq of the standard Dove!!! 🤣 I mean additionally to the fried top! What do you say now?
  22. Dave, I'm shocked! You played in bars? Good, she never new what my guitars have seen.
  23. Hey Zomby, what a great idea. I'm taking off the TRC now to compare how that sounds! 😅 Beside of never having touched a Gibson Dove before I bought that one, I now have to confess one more thing: I never heard about Frank Hannon before doing my Dove researches and Tesla was a physician (not even a car) for me. Doesn't matter, Frank came over nicely in the videos and before my tinnitus times I played ROCK (and Roll as well). So, thanks to Frank!
