  1. I read H'Berry Finn when I was like 12. Had a hard time understanding it, but some of the great humorous slang it was spiced-up with, stays forever.
  2. Gibson (and other makers of things, not just guitars), have their Suggested Retail Prices. When they sell their stuff to retailers at a (say) 40% discount off this SRP, it is up to the retailers, to formulate a retail price, which will maximize their sales and their income. These days, we all see retailers selling Gibson guitars at their SRPrice, which means demand for new Standard LPs has NOT waned. And the second-hand market will follow this lead. So if you don't like the price, you have to wait it out (a recession, when it comes, should do wonders, for example).
  3. The phone at https://www.gibson.com/en-GB/Support/Contact-Us is actually 00800-44427661 and is physically located in the Netherlands. I checked on ANOTHER forum, to see if this confusing FREE phone number works or not, or is free or not. Some countries enable it, some don't. some landline operators charge, opthers don't, all mobile networks charge,... Here's the linlk: https://forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/2314434/very-confusing-call-costs-on-a-mobile-for-00800-numbers#:~:text=00800 is meant to be an international freephone, the same and it is free to call. Telecommunications... I mean ANY business in this world is respectable, for example: money laundering CHECK, loan sharking CHECK, prostitution CHECK, arms smuggling CHECK, drugs dealing CHECK. But telecommunications? Gotta have a good laugh now, LOL. 🀣
  4. And you can also store extra beer below. What else could one want! πŸ‘
  5. I actually have never measured this voltage. I know it's really miniscule, so readily available for all sorts of distortion from the environment (dropouts, hum, thumderstorms, solar activity, air-conditioner in some house down the street...)
  6. A pot is a variable resistor. Nothing has changed with regards to electro-magnetism. OK, maybe it's been proven by eperiments that Neutrinos have mass, and there's something fishy going on with Muons, but those don't appear in guitar circuits. πŸ˜„
  7. Very true, we are talking here only about "passive" circuits, with the only energy source input into the system being the "L". All other electrical elements (including the wires, though minimally) take some energy away before it reaches the Amp. Theory we all get in schools of all sorts, it's needed and is good to have in the brain. But it always has to be followed up by real world scenarios. It took me quite some time (and heavy thinking πŸ˜…), that for example a Volume pedal also works in this "one way only" fashion. It only takes volume away from the equation and never increases it. It's (basically) just a resistor, like the Pots in the guitar. And all the other elements, including the Caps, take some or more energy away.
  8. It functions as a limiter of energy throughput. The highest frequencies are impacted the most.
  9. They could, but thru Gibson-authorised dealers. I provided my authorised dealer with a link to Gibson's website (for an ES-335), and he did all the rest till delivery. This change is probably just a "facelift", with authorized dealers taking care of final delivery, warranty coverage, etc.
  10. This is 2 days old, but here goes: Cesar Guelkian has been named as the new permanent president & CEO of Gibson Brands, Inc. Congratulations and best wishes going forward! πŸ‘ https://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/news/2023/07/10/gibson-brands-inc-names-cesar-gueikian-permanent.html

  14. In this FREEDOM song (1989) Grace Slick usually kills me, goose bumps, memories & such. Love that voice!
  15. Gracie in a Nazi uniform on stage, drunk and in total control? 🀣 I do like her as a singer, very much.
  16. I have no idea, the only song I knew was "Joy to the world", when I was a kid. And found it on YouTube just a few weeks ago. Looks like they were great musicians!
  17. No worries, law enforcement agents are hot on the trail! (Image courtesy Zerohedge)
