  1. Answer to Sgt Pepper. Oh its obvious but you don't really discuss my topic, you only give a very general comment
  2. In the pandemic a lot of guitars were in demand for home playing, study etc. Yet the pandemic is over. You'd expect a lot of 'guitarlovers' to sell of their guitar because of being a bit too hasty in deciding to buy one. In this inflation crises people need their money for different more urgent spendings. So you'd expect the secondhand market to rise and prices drop, also for new guitars. Now I am saving money for a Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s GT. So i looked after some month's saving at a website that sells them....€ 2900,- Two years ago € 2200,- How in G. name is this possible and how can people catch up with this? Furthermore even the old price got criticised for " Gibson should by now lower its prices' Who on earth is Gibson going to sell these guitars? Rich people spend way more and sniff at anything below € 4000,- and those who would like to buy the € 2000,- and up range just can't afford this? Are these Gibsons made of real Gold now? Listen I don't want to put Gibson down, I am just curious how this is possible when most people have to save money to get this, yet if you do...by the time you're there the guitar is a € 1000,- higher.
  3. Thanx for your answers but I would like to know, if a guitarist owns a black beauty with three pickups. And he/she has to replace them. Obviously one bridge, one neck. But what humbucker is used as the middle one? Is it an extra bridge or neck humbucker? I am not talking about the wiring but the actual humbuckers.
  4. I've got a Les Paul Classic sunburst 2021 as a gift, originally bought in a shop of a quality dealer for top brands. Guarantee and all the works. Now I am a beginner so a lot is new to me. And if you're new, new instrument, beginner, a lot is distracting, even a bit intimidating, you have to get to know this guitar. So certain things begin to come into focus when you have the guitar a bit longer. There was this crackling when I hit the High E-string and also at times the G. I didn't know if this was there before. So is it the amp, is it the cable? Then I also noticed a zooming noise as my arm came nearer to the guitar-body. And also a noise that resembles the 60-cycle noise (like on an un-shielded Telecaster). This last noise disappears when my fingers touch the square plate around the output-jack. I tried another cable, same result. Another guitar on the amp did not have these sounds except for the 60-cycle. That other guitar is a Telecaster, it is normal for that guitar to have cycle noise unless you do more copper shielding on the inside. Now these disturbing sounds are not there if I have the guitar on 'clean' -mode on my Marshall MG CD15 amp. But when on overdrive with more gain this noise is stronger. This morning the 60 cycle-type noise is still here, maybe I didn't notice it in the beginning, played perhaps mostly on clean-mode when it does not occur. Yet the E-string crackle is not there like it was yesterday. The guitar is new, but do I have to take steps to 'shield' the output-jack? or is it normal for a Les Paul to behave like this on overdrive with gain? Or could there be a loose connection in the jack area?
  5. You are now talking about the wiring, I am asking about the humbucker itself. Is a humbucker designated to one position (Neck or Bridge or Middle) or are humbuckers all the same but the difference is in the wiring? In other words are there only humbuckers or is there a Bridge-humbucker, Neck-humbucker, Middle-humbucker? By the way to answer your question I have a "Vintage Boulevard Black 1003" -Les Paul guitar with three humbuckers and I have a real Gibson Les Paul with only two humbuckers.
  6. I have a Les Paul with three Humbuckers but it could be handy to know in case of changing pickups in the future, wich ones to buy. Not as much as brand preference, but what is the middle one? In case of replacing it. Obviously there is one Neck pickup, one Bridge pickup, but the one in the middle, is it a seperate kind of humbucker, dedicated specially for that position or is it a neck or bridge pickup that is wired for the middle position? Sorry if this is a beginners/newbie question, but that's what I am, a beginner and therefore I'd like to know more via this forum.
  7. What P90 pickups does Gibson use on a Gibson Les Paul Standard 50ies goldtop p90? (+/- $ 2200,-) I see on the web several brands. Are the ones that are used in a new GLPStandard from the Gibson factory or do they use other suppliers. Is there a quality difference between brands? Wich is the best brand? And why does Gibson keep on using that ugly plastic on the P90? I see much nicer gold and nickle ones by Seymour Duncan for instance. Does the material of the cover plastic (soapbar), nickle or brass have an influence on the sound?
  8. Anyone's opinion on the Vintage 1003 BB (Les Paul style guitar)?
