  1. Hello People, Three years later, i found the real name of the seller (liar and thief) of my fake Gibson Dove. His real name is John Cihelka and he lives in St-Adolphe d'Howard province of Québec. Sometimes, he call himself Frank, George, Jean or Del Monaco. He is selling his fake gears between Montréal / Ottawa / Winsor area. There is many complain on this man on kijiji. Cheers
  3. I thought this chat was about The J-200s in Springsteen's movie and then you're talking about what Bruce did or did not and compare with Zappa or politicals opinions and blablabla. Can we come back to the the first question and maybe you should start a new topic like «Do you like Bruce»
  6. very nice guitar. And nice playing too! You should put some pics here. I'd like to see the headstock and the inlays on neck.
  7. @Eracer_TeamI agree with you on all points. On the other side, would people pay less for a 4K$ guitar without COA or even not buying it at all? I search and read maybe 40 to 50 threads on the forum with the «COA» in reference as sugessted by @Larsongs and I found that some will and some will not. So after all, maybe the best answer is : Nice to have !
  8. no sorry. my mistake. I clicked on tracking and I was unable to go back. I'm not too good with computers.
  9. Update score after 10 differents users reply Is the COA important? Yes : 4 No : 1 Nice to have : 1 Dont know or not clear answer: 4
  10. Thank you for having reviewed all the information related to wood species and for confirming that there is no link between the COA and the exploitation of endangered wood species. It was very interesting to read those post. So it seem then the COA appeared in 2003 from my understanding and it doesn't seem to be rigorously issues with every new Gibson guitar. Does anyone know the reasons behind Gibson's decision to issue these certificates in 2003? Until now, here is the score on the question : Is the COA important? Yes : 2 No : 1 Nice to have : 1 Dont know : 3
  11. Hello In my second topic on the forum, i was asking for help as I'm was (still?) looking for the COA for my Memphis ES-335. I was suprise by some answers because I was thinking it would be important for everybody but it's not the case ... First school of thought is : Yes it is very important as it assured you that your guitar is not a fake. It can be very important for the verification of a model. Gibson dont give them for anything. Second School of thought : No it is only a case candy and you dont need it for anything. It's not a legal document. It doesn't certify anything meaningful. It's not a certificate of title. I asked the question to Charlie Gelber of OKGuitars.com and here is his answer : «If a buyer can’t tell an original Gibson from a fake, he shouldn’t be buying a guitar from anyone other than a reputable dealer. There are no COAs for vintage guitars and yet we all seem to be OK with that. The value is in the guitar, not the paperwork.» I also found that you can buy some blank certificat on the net and fill it yourself and this is very bad for the yes answer 🤔 So here is my question : Is COA important to you? and why? Olive
  12. OK ... Any moderator on the forum? I'm just looking for my COA if ever you seen or heard about it ... it is important to me. Cheers
  13. yep everything is on email. I already printed them and put the papers in the case but there's nothing like a genuine one and I dont understand Gibson philosophy as they can make a lot of money from people looking to have a verification and a COA like me. I agree with you about the natural color of my baby. I cant download more pics but the back of the guitar is also just fantastic.
  14. Hello , I just bought that beauty on the picture, a 2016 ES-335 in lightburt color. The seller didn't have the COA with the guitar so I contacted Gibson primary to buy and they assured me it's a real Gibson not a fake (see my other post ...). I cant understand how people can lost the COA. To me this paper is part of the guitar like the strings or the pickups or the neck. It have to stay all together. Anyway, i'm trying to find my COA and I need your help if ever you seen or heard about it, I would like to have it back with my guitar. By the way, I asked Gibson what to do to have a replacement COA without answer from them. I was ready to pay for it and even to ship the guitar to their shop to have a new COA but they didn't seem to be interested. Serial number of my guitar : 11586746
  15. thx E-minor7. I called the police but nothing happen ... The best thing I did was to write this post as is if you're searching for James Savey on google, you'll find this post and you'll his phone number. Cheers
  16. End of the story : Hey everyone ! Okay, so I decided to sand the «Gibson» logo on the headstock and surprise ... it was a sticker put a long time ago and vernish. Was a nice job but it was easy to remove. Behind the sticker there was no name. The crown is a real inlay and is still there on the headstock. I also took off the fake label inside so now it is no more a fake / conterfeit Gibson guitar. It's just an vintage no name and beautiful acoustic guitar. For Christmas 2020, I gave it to a charity group for young people here in Gatineau hoping it would help in the community. Stay save and happy new year to all of you. Olive
  17. M. Pepper, Parta is from Finland but his post is in France ...
  18. Hello Parta, did you find any information? It would make a nice anecdote if so and as you, I always want to know more about my guitars history. I have an old 1956 ES-225T. My guitar is a player and it was played by who? Maybe some great musicians maybe not. Where was it bought? Where did she giged? I think it's fun to know the history of my guitars but very hard to find any informations.
  19. belle famille! Leur as-tu donné des noms? J'ai nommé ma 1956 ES-225T : la vielle Ma 2007 SG Special : Bébé toutes mes autres guitares ont des noms et elles chantent toutes différemment. Salut
  20. The seller's name was James Savey. His phone number is/was 438-869-9231 in Montréal. I'm sure he knew it was a copy as he said the guitar was in his family for decades. He hided the trussrod with a 2 srews cover. He put a little piece of wood in the cavity of the trussrod to fix the second screw. I should ask him to remove the cover and have a look before buying it but who do that? I discovered that one's I was back home. The guitar have a fantastic look and the sound is beautiful. It had the logo. It had the waffles tuners. It had the patine and the label. The now known liar was asking 2K Canadian. I asked him why this low price for a Dove? He said he didn't use it and was alone - last man alive in his family and wanted to sell it to someone who would play it. On my side, i was looking for a used vintage guitar - a player to restore in this Covid period of time. So I took his word and I gave him the money (about 1200$ US). That's a lot of money but at that moment, I tought it was a real deal. My father told me later : if it's too nice to be true then it's not true 😕 Many time I did tried to call back the man but the chicken doen't reply. Call the police? Forget it too complicated in Québec. Now : I will remove the label inside and I will write «This is a fake Gibson» inside the guitar. I was thinking of burning it but the sound is very nice and the guitar is beautiful even if it's not a Gibson. Cheers
  21. thank you everybody. As i wrote in my introduction post, i know for sure now then it is a copy. But the main question remain. Nobody know any guitar company maker in the 70th who would put the logo of Gibson on the headstock and ingrave a serial number very close from the Gibson serial number style. Is it important : no. Is it fun to know : yes That's fine for me. It was a pleasure to talk to all of you. Olive from Gatineau, province of Québec, Canada
  22. Thanks J45nick. 1/ Informations on the label Style : handwritten DOVE (lead pencil) Gibson : stamp of a date 11 OCT 67B Number is hereby : handwritten same serial number as on the headstock (also with a lead pensil) Gibson INC. Kalamazoo, Michigan, U.S.A. The date is stamp inside the guitar to a couple of other places. What is the meaning of the letter B? Would it mean it is a B-stock? I dont know. The label is the oval orange and seem like the style / Gibson / serial number were blank and fill by hand with a lead pencil or a stamp of a date. 2/ The trussrod The nut is accessible with a metric Allen key of 5 mm.
  23. Thx. looks very much like mine [pick guard and bridge}. But the logo is Lyle and I cant find any fake of that era with the Gibson logo.
  24. I cant download more pics. I received a message from the site dont know why. Sorry
