How does it feel when you rub your finger lightly across the stain area? Is it tacky or gummy? What about the rest of the guitar? Is it tacky and course feeling?

Well, it could be legit. It just doesn't pass my sniff test. If it is a guitar you really want, one could take it to their local Gibson dealer and have it checked out. Just ask the seller to meet you where this can be done by an independent expert. If it is legit, the seller will have no problem accommodating you on this request.

IMHO, this is a fake. All the things you mentioned and more. The finish is wrong. The made in USA stamp is wrong. The serial number look up come back unrecognized.

I don't hold much hope for the future of GC and their subs. Pretty sure they'll last a bit longer but they are in the throws of a slow and painful death. It was nice to see all the same faces working there. I hope for their sake, corporate get's their crap together. Most of the folks at my local GC have been there a very long time and are very knowledgeable.

Just got done with the shed/garage swap. Snow blower and generator come out of the shed and into the garage. The lawn mower, trimmer and leaf sweeper come out of the garage and go into the shed. While the shed is empty, get all of the Christmas decor out. All of the crap we haven't used from the shed in the past year, in the trash. Went to GC yesterday, dang is that wall empty! Walked next door to S.A. same thing. 200 miles round trip just to look at empty walls.

Yeah, he's not going to get 6K. He did say OBO. Guitar Chimp has them from time to time at about 3,200.

My hope is JH's family get a bit of the $. The 2016 with the smaller body looks a bit more proportionate to me. I am a fan of the bound body and neck.

Pretty safe to say, I will not. I will hold out for the 91-93 in great condition.

I did a bit of research and it looks like the 57's have a 49.21mm spacing. They are available from StewMac and they fit their vintage humbucking kits. They also have a 52.71mm spacing for the bridge position if needed. Read the install instructions.

When my son was 14, a freshman in high school and playing trombone in the concert band, he discovered the guitar. What a journey that has sent us on but that's another story. He played his band teachers acoustic for a while then asked for his own electric guitar. I asked which one he liked and he showed me a web page with an Epiphone SG Special. I asked why that one and he said he really like Angus Young. For $159.00 dollars what could it hurt. Spent another $150.00 on a used amp and away he went. That boy would play AC/DC non stop. Later I discovered that Gibson had done several Angus Young signature model runs. The run that caught my eye, started in 2010 and was dubbed the Thunderstruck. That started a search that lasted 1 1/2 years. Every morning, 7 days a week while drinking my coffee, I would search every used guitar listing I could find. You name that sight, dealer, social media and I was searching it, everyday! Then, low and behold, a 2010 Angus Young Thunderstruck in Ebony (tough to find) popped up on CL in up state NY. That was a mere 750 miles from me. The price was right. In fact, it was about $800.00 dollars low. I called, we talked, I got all the info I could. Emailed Gibson and they verified. Called Sweetwater and they verified. I hit the road! Come to find out, this guy is selling off his deceased fathers estate. Man I felt like a opportunistic piece of crap. That was never my intent. I offered to pay him market value for the guitar without hesitation. He refused my offer telling me he knew it's market value but he also knew how long I had been searching for that specific guitar and what my intentions were for the guitar. The guitar was to be a gift to my son on his 18th birthday. He then proceeded to give me free of charge, Fender Blues JR tube amp, picks, stings, tuners, stands and the list goes on forever. Every thing his dad had that was guitar related. I had to wait 10 months for his birthday to arrive but it was well worth it. This past Christmas is when we gave him the guitar and all the goodies. What a great memory for all. I cant thank that guy enough! I guess what I'm trying to tell you is, be patient and be vigil with your searches. The right guitar and deal will come along. Probably when you expect it the least. C

I’m so glad someone started this thread. When I first saw the announcement of the new Jimi models I was very excited. Then I saw the price! You have got to be kidding me. Do the math everyone. 300 guitars at 10K each, this is a 3 million dollar project for the custom department not to mention all the other uber expensive custom shop guitars. You mean to tell me you want 10K for a guitar that you beat the crap out of? Gibson claims Jimi custom ordered the Flying V. That is not hard to believe but I’m sure they did not deliver a brand new guitar beat to crap and looking 50 years old. If we want a distressed looking guitar then we will have to play the crap out, never clean it, chain it to the bumper of the old pickup and drag it down a dirt road for 37.25 miles, or just take it to the shed and break out the aging tools. The distressed look is a personal preference and not one I share with the creators of these new models. What musician in their right mind would spend 10K on a beat up guitar and then play or gig with with it? None that I know of. A great Luthier creates a great instrument, a talented musician makes the instrument collectible. Gibson should concentrate on making great instruments that talented musician can afford thus fostering a new generation of guitarist and they will make your brand collectible. Take a lesson from Harley D. If you continue to pander to the collectors, you will only survive as long as they do. I have actually been trying to obtain the 91-93 Jimi Hendrix Hall of Fame Flying V. BTW, it has the same inlays. They made 400 hundred of these guitars spanning 3 years and the cost was nowhere near 10K. They have a Price Guide Estimated Value of $1720.00 to $2700.00 which tells us the MSRP was a bit lower. In 2006, Gibson did a run of 300 Custom Shop Jimi Hendrix Psychedelic V-Hand Painted. You see them for sale on the internet from time to time and if you watch, it takes for ever to sell or they just give up. Sorry for the rant, C
