  1. 62burst, you may be right about the gas! Thanks for the wake up call. No I have the harem just like I wanted and the 185 has to stay. I have the SJ12f now and it is new and shiny I guess but awesome just the same and easy to play for quite a while. I’ll just keep what I have and save a bit. My collection far exceeds my playing ability but god who doesnt love to strum. I also have a guild d55, 50, and 40 but need that Gibson tone. Just play the guilds enough to know they shine. Guns and guitars for the kids! Who says you have enough.
  2. Yes Sir, got to play one for awhile and do like everything about til I hit the Gibson curse. Had a couple high frets 7th and 12th. Fret job latter and I’m back to crooning. My opinion that this should have been caught at factory it was that bad. Plus run off glue all over the braces. I can live with it for this tone!
  3. I really love this SoJo 12f. I want to find a adi top one. I have to sell or trade a 2016 custom j185 so please keep your ears out. It’s the trans black but looks like barn wood, cool but I don’t play it as much.

  5. It was pointed out in a post that I had joined in 2009 and posted something this week for the first time… I am Sonny a Texas transplant in Montana.
  6. Tom, the normal orange sticker just has Southern Jumbo, serial # and Custom Shop. Serial number and made in U.S.A is also stamped on the back of headstock.
  7. Lol, yes I just retired from a job that required little footprint on the internet but now I can run amok! I did email Gibson about a week ago. No COA unfortunately. It sounds deeper than the 2020 SJ next to it and I found this today if accurate. Mine has chrome Grovers and 1 knob volume? Thanks for the replies and research. I can normally track down what ever but this one has been challenging OLDANDINTHEWAY 4,9175813 Dec 16 '10. #3 I stumbled into the best sounding Gibson I've ever played. It was at a annual sale at Leitz Music in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. I bought it almost immediately after an hour of playing. It is a Custom shop Southern Jumbo with scalloped advanced braces. The back braces are very thin and tall.It is a 12 fret (19 frets total with a standard tuner head and gold enclosed Grovers. The fretboard and bridge are rosewood. The top is probably sitka with a very small burst pattern. The rest of the body and neck are almost a purple/black color. The fretboard and both sides of the neck are bound with white plastic?. The tuner head face has an "only a Gibson is good enough" banner. Does it sound good? I traded my 1967 D-28 away as the Gibson fills the dreadnaught strummer slot nicely. Further research indicates that this SJ was 1 of 12 special orders by a southern dealer. It listed at $3800 - I paid $2000 including tax.
  8. Need help finding specs on serial # 11130xxx, seems there were fifty made but can’t find anything online. Phenomenal sound and in great shape. Sure would appreciate any help. (Right One)
