The guy was pleasant but knew less about these amps than I do. I gave him the serial number but he said he did not have access to serial numbers of that vintage and could not identify the amp construction date. I now know my amp was likely built in late 60 or sometime in 61 but that's no help when trying to identify the correct cabinet.

I have a 1961 Gibson GA-200 Rhythm King chassis I want to re-cabinet with an authentic repro. A local guy can build me whatever I want but there were at least 2 different cabs made for that amp. One had wide front panels beside the grill and on the other the grill ran right out to the inner edge of the side panels. The Gibson catalogues from 57 to 61 show the wide-panel versions and the model was replaced by the new Crestline Two Hundred in 62/63, but I have photos of an RK with narrow panels and the same creamy-coloured covering as most of the GA-5 Skylarks before their cabinets changed at about the same time. There are lots of pictures of them on Google. So Gibson made and sold some like that, with narrow front panels and a vertical chassis (unlike the horizontal chasses used previously) But I have been unable to find any information about when they were built. I would be pretty safe with a wide-panel cabinet as that seems to be the most likely original- my chassis is from 1961 and the 61 catalogue shows the wide-panel version but I'd love to know for sure, Can anyone shed any light on the RK timeline?
