  1. Hello, I’m new here but a long time lover of Paul guitars. Im here because I recently got out my pair of sparkle top deluxe models that I have had since the early ‘90’s. I know they’re not everyone’s cup of tea but I always liked them and was glad to find them. Anyway......with much more information available these days I was looking at pricing and availability etc. that led me to some interesting conversations on one of them. I picked up the red sparkle in 1990. When I saw it’s full size humbuckers I of course, like you though, ugh! More wonderful routing work. After taking a look I found matching paint on the bottom of both cavities and some on the walls as well. Just as I saw on solid color standards from the time. The cavities look like the same as well. My thought is that In 90 when I got this no one would care enough to paint the cavities if they decided to route the guitar. I’m attaching the best pics I can take. I’m hoping for someone to shed light on things or any thoughts. Also where can I get something like this authenticated? I’m from the Pittsburgh Pa. area. Thanks in advance for any help!
