  1. Just to follow up, I replaced my strings with Ernie ball primo, it’s a 9.5 set which replaced my 17 gauge g string with a 16 gauge and now the guitar is absolutely perfect….I am guessing my original issues was the bridge saddle wasn’t cut perfectly for the larger string and the thinner 16 gauge sits better in the saddle…. either way, the guitar plays beautifully now and I couldn’t be happier
  2. Set the action the way you want it
  3. The solution to my “perceived” g string issue is a lighter 16 gauge g string…I had 10’s on the guitar because that’s what it came with and I decided to go with a set of 9.5’s which has a 16g g string….low and behold the g string now rings out beautifully! I say perceived problem because I think it’s how my brain is hearing the heavier g string….maybe, anyway I should probably just make the switch to a full set of 9’s, but for now I am going to stick with the 9.5’s
  4. What’s going on with that string job
  5. Yep, my 2021 slash G string has the same thud almost muted/choked sound
  6. Once a note is fretted, is the nut not taken out of the equation
  7. No, it’s not a wound G
  8. Just standard Ernie ball 10’s
  9. I had a really experienced luthier look at it and tell me it’s a les Paul thing and that mine was perfect…still sounds weird to me, but it’s the only LP I have
  10. I haven’t noticed anything from my Hercules stand, but I did get a spot where I had left my clip on tuner on for a week…won’t do that again
  11. Because that’s what I do, I get carried away with polishing
  12. How careful do I need to when polishing the headstock where the “les paul model” in gold paint is? I know it was screen printed on there, just curious how easy it would be to polish it off
  13. Thanks for all your input guys, I really do appreciate you guys
  14. I would say if you want a near flawless guitar, buy a Japanese made esp...I have a ESP EII eclipse and the fit and finish on it is far superior to that of my LP slash.... but nothing sounds like a LP
  15. I set up everything to the Gibson specs....neck relief, action height, it’s intonation is perfect...if it’s the nut, wouldn’t I be able to rule that out when I fret a note?
  16. Guitar is a 2021 les Paul slash, I feel like I have the guitar set up perfectly, but the g string sounds muted pretty much all over the fretboard....and it also has the more common open g rattle...all other strings are free of buzz and rattle
  17. What’s everyone’s take on kluson revolution locking tuners...I was thinking about swapping out the Gibson deluxe for locking tuners
  18. https://www.gibson.com/guitars/collection/slash
  19. Because I bought it and it’s a slash model
  20. I would send that back based on the neck binding alone...not sure about the specks in the finish, but that’s not good either....I just sent back a slash for similar issues
  21. The one from guitar center also came with this dent in the binding at the 3rd fret
