  1. Beauty eh!! Hard to see the color though in that pic. You can see a hint but face on it is very dark. Still a beauty though!
  2. That is a BEAUTY! I have always wanted a Tobacco Sunburst but could not find one that I liked and was within my preferred budget. This one weighs in at 10lbs. So it too is a bit of a beast but it feels pretty well balanced. I do like the inlay colors. They seem to come out a little greener in pictures but still it gives it a uniqueness that I like too. And mine does say Classic on the truss rod cover. The neck is a little bit smaller than the Standards I played but not quite as thin as the 74 Custom I played. I had hoped that this one would be but I am very happy with it. It fits me well. But most important, that tone........!!
  3. Rabs, it IS a Classic. I was looking for a Standard and ended up going with this. Some of the 1960 Classics did have the full cover pups. The pups are 496R & 500T and the truss rod cover does say Classic. It sounds amazing.
  4. After much research, many guitars being watched on Ebay and Reverb.com. After going back and forth from Guitar Center and the House of Guitars I chose one. I was really going for a Standard but then at the last minute GC brought in a 1974 Custom with a very flat neck. Very Ibanez like. But I wasn't going to get a Custom and the 59 reissue that I tried as much as I loved the neck I didn't want to drop $4500 - $6999 for a Custom Shop. So I went back to the fist one I was watching and made an offer and got it! 2001 Les Paul 1960 Custom Reissue. The set up needed work. Very high and unbalanced but playing it through my Friedman DS40 it was a dream come true. It nailed every tone I asked for and sustained for days! I am so happy and realize that as much as I love other guitars the Les Paul is still at the top of the heap!!
  5. The first one is the 91, the middle one is the 2021 Bourbon and the 3rd one is the Studio.
  6. Sadly there is no way of doing that, they are scattered around the country!
  7. Oh well never mind Bourbon Burst sold 😄 FWIW * Bridge pickup: Burstbucker 61T humbucker * Neck pickup: Burstbucker 61R humbucker There also a 2001 Standard flame burst. In good shape but shows the wear of a 20 year old guitar, which I am ok with too
  8. So I have been on the hunt for a new to me LP. I do like a 60's slim taper neck and so I like the Standard. GC has a Trad Pro V which had a nice neck but I don't need or want push/pull pots frankly. Plus it's a GC exclusive, I would rather have a Gibson made for us and not for a company if you know what I mean. I have found 2 guitars at a virtually equal price. And one a little more costly. Of the 2, one is a 2021 Standard in Bourbon Burst. Very pretty, just under $2k, the other is a 2006 Les Paul Studio Premium Plus no burst in more or less a Maple finish also just under 2k. This one looks very, very similar to the real version of my very first guitar which was a WMC LP copy, likely made b y Univox. So that is kind of cool in and of itself. The 3rd one is a 1991 Heritage Burst in very good shape for just a few hundred more. Any opinions?
  9. Last year I sold a guitar to a guy from Canada. He drove down from Montreal (I live in upstate NY) and bought the guitar. No idea if he had any border issues. I am looking at a guitar that's in Canada. If I drive I can save a small fortune on shipping. Does anyone have any knowledge about what the rules, if any, might be? Thanks. Shoot never mind. I just realized I don't want that particular guitar. Sorry... my bad! I don't know how to delete the post 😄
  10. Hi all from Rochester, NY. I am a 62 year old guitar player. I have played Gibsons off and on for years. Forgetting the forays into Fender and Ibanez for now, my first guitar was a WMC (Washington Music Center aka Chuck Levins) Les Paul copy, likely made by Univox. My second guitar had an interesting story. It was a 1962 Melody Maker. At the time I was 17 or so and thought I knew everything. I saw these ads for Dimarzio pups and thought that a Super Distortion in the neck position and a PAF in the bridge would be the ****! I also wanted Grover machine heads. The guitar tech at Veneman music in Rockville, Md. suggested that I didn't really want to do this. As I said I was 17 and knew better ;) so he made the changes. To his credit he saved the parts and put them in a plastic bag. Well he was right of course. For one it sounded like ****! It was like putting a 454 big block engine into a VW. the 5# body and small mass of the guitar was not built for that. The tuners were good though! Well someone knocked the guitar over and broke the neck anyway, so there went that! The interesting part of that story was the guitar tech was a guy named Paul Smith. Latrer on he started using his full name of Paul Reed Smith! So I guess he really did know what he was talking about! Later on I managed to get a 1976 Firebird and was disappointed to find that the baseball neck was really too much for me. Sold that and got a 1978 LP Pro Deluxe. Great guitar but that too was sold and truth be told I don't know what I was playing after that one! Maybe my old WMC? Then some Ibanez...For years I played bass in bands using a Thunderbird bass. I had that and a Music Man 100W head with a Cerwin Vega double scoop 18" with a front loaded 15". I called it my John Deere set up because it roared like a tractor! For the past 20 years I had been playing in showbands using a 98' Fender American Deluxe Strat but always coveted another LP. I finally got a 2012 Traditional but my first gig with it I realized that the style of music I was playing and the amp I was using really didn't lend itself to that kind of music so I sold it and got an EBMM Luke III. Great guitar but still not right. I ended up building a Partscaster to the exact specs I was looking for. Great guitar but then Covid hit and I stopped playing in showbands. Recently while working at home I listened to about 6 hours of the Allman Brothers at the Beacon and am hooked again! I am now trying to decide which LP to get. I love the slim taper neck so I am leaning towards those. I like the idea of the Jimmy Page but I am not n the mood to spend $4k+. So that's my story, and I am sticking to it. I would not have bother with this longggg story, but hey, Gibson asked :D Looking forward to being able to contribute and be a part.
