  1. The Epiphone.. LOL. I'm sure Gibson was THRILLED to hear that... From Guitarist Magazine... "The Gibson USAs are great," Hammett told Guitarist, "but my favourite version of Greeny is probably the Epiphone… the Epiphone Greenys, just by themselves, sound great and play great, and I was amazed at how I was playing an Epiphone and I didn't want to put it down. It's just on all levels. This was two or three weeks ago [from the time of the interview]. That Epiphone Greeny is now my couch guitar and I reach for it when I'm watching TV, like most guitar players are apt to do."
  2. Wow...... Just, wow..... What could possibly justify a 20% price increase in 5 months?? Did mahogany trees go on the endangered list or something??? $2,500 at the beginning of 2023, increase to $2,800 in March 2023, and now $3,000 in May of 2023.... Guys... In the near future I think the LP standards are going to be $6,500 and the Custom Shop LPs are gonna be $15,000 to $20,000.... This is out of control.....
  3. As a kid, when I got new sneakers, the first thing I did was take them outside, roll them around in the dirt and make them look used. There was NOTHING more in the world that I hated than big white new sneakers... When I got jeans, I washed them 100 times to make them soft and faded, because I HATED the feel and look of new jeans... When I bought a murphy les paul, and I smacked into the corner of my desk as I turned around in my chair, and put a nice dent in the already dented and cracked finish. All I did was add a little more character. What I did NOT just do is put a big dent in the flawless glossy finish of my brand new 7,000 les paul..
  4. Weren't these '50 and '60 Les Paul Standards $2,499 a like a month ago?? Now they are $2,799??? Wow wee... How long until $3,000?? End of the year?
  5. I just saw one on Chicago Music Exchange for sale, but you have to call to buy it.. No price listed... https://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/products/1664889
  6. If you bought it brand new, just return it. Is it the end of the world? Probably not... But, did you just pay a heck of a lot of money for a guitar built by the Gibson Custom Shop that is supposedly "...the pinnacle of craftsmanship, quality and sound excellence" - You should not have to "settle" for any imperfections. Plus, if that thing starts buzzing away after the return period is over, you are really gonna be mad.. Just what I would do.....
  7. I bought a guitar on line from Guitar Center and returned it to my local store, as well as an amp head. I only had each of them for a few days, nothing wrong either, just returned them because they weren't what I was looking for... Anyway, each time, when I went back to the store a couple days later, the items I returned were on display as NEW items... So.. Who knows.. I would send it back....
  8. The knobs that Gibson sells online and in stores are not the custom shop knobs... I don't think they sell them actually.. When I bought a new custom shop les paul last year, I took it out of the case and the silver reflector fell right out of the knob. I sent an email over to their customer service, they had me send them a picture, and then they sent me a whole new set of knobs.
  9. Peter Frampton... Dave Mustaine.. Tony Iommi... Mike Ness... Gene Simmons.... Jerry Cantrell... Slash.. Joe Perry... Ha ha... Go ask any 16 year old kid if they know who any of these guys are.. With these endorsements, and the money these guitars costs, Gibson is definitely the guitar of choice for doctors and lawyers all around the world...
  10. Going from a USA to a Custom Shop is like saying your gonna keep your Honda Civic and continue to use it, even though you just bought a Ferrari. You think you will. You swear you will. But you won't....
  11. No case for this one, ever.... I keep it on a stand all the time, and play it everyday. I think the dye in the binding is just different for every person... As a matter of fact, there was a guy who posted this picture of a card that Gibson used to include with historic guitars...... So, whatever.... It doesn't bother me..
  12. Well, seeing that this thread is active again, I figured I would give you guys an update.... The color has faded.... Definitely still has some color, but it has faded..... My guess is it will continue to fade over time..
  13. I am not saying this is what happened, but it almost looks like maybe they didn't like the way the slots were cut - so rather than pop out the whole nut (and essentially have to refinish the whole guitar), they just sliced off the top and glued a new top on........ Very weird......
  14. Yeah, lets cover that beautiful wood with a pickguard that does absolutely nothing, and will most likely mess-up the finish underneath where the screw and bolt go in the bracket..... Awesome.
  15. Funny you say that, the price of all the Marshall Studio amps went up 100 bucks today too... Used to be 1499, now are 1599... What is going on here???
