  1. Hi. Its a fact that an '64 SG I have here does not sustain - and more importantly, keep in tune as well as my '59 LP. The wonky ABR1 bridge moving so much on those posts, nylon saddles are the main culprits - and from the custom shop the problems were there from day 1. Wondering about trying to stop-tail the guitar like my LP. I had imagined drilling stopbar posts in and using the existing bridge. This way there would be just the two flush mounting holes should someone wish to revert back to the Maestro. However, the ABR1 on the SG looks to have much more "play" in it on the posts than the similar bridge on my '59 LP and I wonder if this is by chance or by design so it can move for the Maestro? Has anyone done this mod - are there templates or measurements available for the stopbar post holes? I assume the stop tail would need to be grounded. Perhaps a new bridge or posts are also required as part of it? Interested to hear form anyone who knows their stuff on this topic. Cheers
