Instead of you telling me what I don't know I can tell you what I do know—both sides of the nut looked horrible, I have never seen another Gibson look this way, this would reduce the resale value, and Gibson customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. If you like your guitars to look this way great, I just don't.
-
could be, or all 6 were finished by the same worker who has that style.
-
Agreed. I have 2 Les Pauls and an ES-335 that are great.
-
" But all Gibsons have a line across the side of the nut where the edge of the nitro" All? No they all don't. Absolutely not.

I hope so too, but I will stay away from them and try only to buy at brick and mortar establishments where I can see and play the guitar before buying—and that's just what I did after returning the guitar to them. Anyway, I think the current offerings from Epiphone have got them beat for the money all day long.

It took just nearly a month, about a dozen emails and a dozen phone calls, and a couple of hours of lost time, but I finally got my money back from Gibson. Lesson learned.

Thanks for that information. I'm not sure if our experiences are the same but for $3K it's unacceptable to me to need to have a new guitar from a premium brand that looks bad and plays not as well as it should (low E pushes off the neck too easily) taken to a luthier to be made right. Time, money, more time, etc. Gibson finally, after more than a dozen calls/emails, had UPS pick up the guitar. I hope I will see a refund before Christmas.

Still no return label from Gibson Consumer Service after being promised one2 days ago.
-
Actually the tone on this one isn't that good. The nut might have something to do with that.
-
Then it's a "repaired" guitar and you've let them get away with misrepresenting a product. On top of that why should I spend time finding and going back and forth to a repair shop?
-
UPDATE: More than 24 hours after being promised a no cost return from Gibson I have still not received any shipping label or further instruction. What a company!!!
-
Before TG, after TG, and 4 calls yesterday. Finally got someone at the end of the day yesterday. He said I could return the guitar and would send a return label. I haven't received the return label as I write this. Maybe I'll get the label today or tomorrow or I will start the calling all over again. Stay tuned for more on this unnecessary and ugly story.

2 emails and 3 phone calls with more than 30 minutes on hold and nobody answers. Is Gibson bankrupt and have they closed their doors?
-
They have ignored 2 emails now. I am following their instructions included with the order if I have "questions or concerns" which I do. I did call last week but had to leave a message. At this point I will return the guitar, IF they ever respond, as it would be necessary to take this to a luthier for repair. I'll put the money, IF I get it back, toward a Collings guitar and be done with Gibson for good.

Based on what the other end looks like I think you are right about this showing an added piece. That being said it's rather easy to push the low E off the neck while playing a G chord.
