  1. The ds1 has alot of tonal variation considering it's a single tone knob. It's been used on countless recordings for a reason. Not because it's great. But it can sound really good with the right guitar and amp. I had one like 20 yrs ago, it didn't stand out among pedals but it's not useless. I'd try it out if you can, because it does have a distinct sound through any amp that's hard to get rid of, if your not a fan
  2. I've had mine a year ordered ams, and still not 1 problem. I've been playing since 87 so I knew how to give it a good inspection in case I had to send it back. Seriously, i was blown away by the quality it was way more than expected. I have the blue one it's got great pups and controls. I also know that sometimes shoddy examples leave the factory and ordering unseen has risks. That's true with most brands
  3. I had a varitone once on an electra lp copy, it was great for recording. I rewired it for standard wiring and immediately knew I should have left it alone. All the variety of tones was great, and i ruined the varitone when i removed it! Well, at least it was a learning exp. Awesome guitar btw, I have a semi but never played bbs with no f holes
  4. I got the epi blue 335 a year ago and it's still my main player. I love it. The parts all aligned properly, the finish was great, it's a killer RnB/jazz/blues/rocker. And the volume and tones have a progressive curve that's useful all the way down to 1!
