  1. So you knew the scratch would be there? You sounded surprised at the condition in the original post. Photos from their "Gallery" show the exact guitar with serial number that you will get. As opposed to just a standard picture of a guitar when you click on a unit under "Electric Guitars". At least that's the way it used to be. If the picture/serial number you saw in their Gallery and ordered doesn't mach the actual condition or serial number of the guitar you received, then that's a problem worth returning it over.
  2. Wow! That's pretty cool that you can find out so much info about your instrument and talk to actual previous owners. Good luck.
  3. Did you pick that from Sweetwater's Guitar Gallery? Usually, you get to see the exact guitar you're buying there. If it looked OK in the Gallery, but you got that instead, then send it back. That's the whole reason for being able to see your purchase prior to delivery. If you just ordered a guitar without seeing a particular guitar you wanted and got that, well it could have been worse.
  4. You said you purchased this 3rd hand. More than likely, a previous owner (Probably the first) already registered it. Just like the message said.

  7. 1.Is the bridge volume all the way up,(Gotta be sure)and does it sound like it lowers and raises the volume and works otherwise, like the neck pickup? 2.Can the neck pickup be lowered to even the output between pickups? 3.Are these the stock pickups, or have they been replaced? Check the wiring for obvious problems. 4.Have it looked at by a qualified tech.
  8. Something about fretboard height for string break angle... http://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=176544 "The main way to conclusively identify a '67 versus any other year is the fact that the fret board is only about 1/4 inch off the body as opposed to about 1/2 or more for any version after. This makes for a low break angle over the bridge and the characteristic slinky strings these are known for. The '67 is the only version with the short tremolo and the pickguard cut to fit this feature... I would like to add that the current USA Flying Vs also have the fretboard just off the body like the original 67s. Other than the neck joint and some minor headstock shaping and edge conturing, the current USA 67 Flying Vs are pretty darn close to the original 67s. Of course, as stated above, the original 67s changed between production runs." Maybe the fretboards on the current `68' models sit a bit higher than the `67's did.
  9. Lot's of info here: http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/gibson-les-pauls/50210-gibson-les-paul-101-a.html
  10. It's a typo. The necks on these are mahogany. As well as the chambered body.
  11. That looks like an SG Jr. Tommy's original post was about an SG Special. If the picture in his avatar is the guitar he's talikng about, you can see the difference.
