  8. hey .. didja get my message

  9. I can still remember arguing these models from back in the sixties. the sheri and the casino, anyway. I went with the sheri.. the neck was a big part of that.. the access to upper frets and the thin neck. but I put in p90s. today. I'd grab that riviera p93 in a heartbeat. great price great features.. the casino it has to be said. is another animal. you might compare the dot or riv or sheri.. but the casinos body and deeper set neck make for real tonal difference out of the guitar.. no matter what pups are in it. to me anyway.
  10. gotta say it looks really sharp on the cab!
  11. I think it's gotta be a little wider.. too many chickenheads plus the fat standby. hope it sounds great brian!
  12. I put bone in my dove.. and went back to plastic. I put tusq nut it.. tone was much better. I have tusq saddle now but haven't got it in yet. I was shocked.. first that the nut made more difference with tusq over plastic and then that the bone sounded worse than plastic. some guitars are contrary. give 'em what they like and to hell with the rest. for me a piezo with an internal mic is best.. but problematic with feedback and needs special electronics to balance them out. so I go with piezo alone... a little compressor pedal to lessen the harsh attack.. and plug into my modded vj. 13. epi tuners aren't going to have backlash for a long time. but that's a good point. You see this a lot on open geared tuners that have age on them. the cog get dirty.. the dirt is actually crunching away at the metal in the shaft and the cog and it wears it right out. if you have open gear tuners.. clean those suckers. you can feel the slop on some tuners, even when new. another common thing is guys don't stretch the strings out.. they all give quite a bit when new.. pull up at the neck pup.. and around the 8th fret or so.. on each string.. tune.. repeat.. tune.. repeat.. that ought to do it for the newness. just pull an inch or two.. 14. That's gonna look killer in black.. it looks pretty good right now, in fact. damage and all. Brian was nice enough to not mention I sent his bigsby and forgot his bridge. d'oh! Nice to see how the bridge pole pieces and nut lined up so well.. looks very much spot on in the pic. but let's see her in black whe you get done! TWANG
  15. I use 'em on all mine with no complaint! TWANG
  16. I don't remember.. 91? korean sheri. I used a bridge from all parts.. had to do a little finagling but she went right in. TWANG
  17. I have parts numbers for direct fit roller bridges for epis. except for the sheraton. But I've managed to fit a roller to mine without removing or even changing the bushings. plus one on your success! TWANG
  18. The sheris have thinner necks than the dots.. I don't know the riv's neck that well. the casino, I beleive, also has a slightly fatter neck. you'll notice the sheri and riv let you get up the neck higher before the body gets in the way.. the argument is one has easier access. the sheri, riv. while the casino has more neck 'in the pocket' so should produce different effect on tone and sustain.. toward the positive. the casino should feedback a bit sooner, due to the lack of a center block, but I still think they are controllable and besides.. that's not all bad! 19. I love the locking grovers.. on strats and on my lp with bigs.. but I love em without a whammy, too.. fast easy string changes. NOTE grover just switched to a model with a knob on the back.. the old ones just had a slightly taller string post.. so now the string post is regular height.. and you have a knob on the back. the instructions with them are simple.. none. I don't know if they work like sperzels.. I assume they do. but.. they told me.. good old wd.. ha!.. they were black chrome, and they aren't. they are painted black. or at least appear to be, to me. I was a bit disappointed in that. but they do look good still.. I don't know if the old style are shipping or the new.. the price went up..I'll have to call and check this out.. It appears you string through, cut string tighten knob.. and tune. the advantage of the knob style is.. with the old style sometimes the string would break close to the tuning post.. and you'd have to dink around to get it out.. I found grabbing it with a needle nose and detuning let it slip right out, but doing that with fingers was harder.. as the string, esp. the e b g were so hard to hold onto if short... with the knob style, you just loosen the knob and it drops out. 20. refresh me.. that's a korean sheri.. had the bigger style bridge when stock? Nice looking bridge! I used gold grovers.. with the stepped buttons, Imperials. Not the Imperials with the Kluson style back.. so no drilling new screw holes.. work fantastic, tunes great, and really compliments the sheri headstock. I didn't notice any sustain loss with the bigs on my epi lp.... but I hear that complaint a lot, so.. I guess it varies. I'm still debating whether to get a bigs for the sheri.. probably will. *L* Are you going to cover the old tail bushing holes? I made an abalone dot... am trying to find some mop so I can try triangle in dot to match the neck inlays. But a set of dots made of guard material or abalone is probably what I'll settle for. Some use a long plate from one bushing to the other.. engraved with name or custom or something like that, too. TWANG
  21. I wish you could take a look under the bridge and see the bushing size.. whether or not they are originals.. and post a pic of that.. maybe next string change? I'd like to know if that style bridge will fit sheris... and which years. I just sent a repro korean size bridge to a guy.. but it's the wrong size! he sent a pic to me, and his bridge is the thin looking normal model and the repro was too narrow to fit the posts. I can get that Nashville or soap bar style bridge so I'd like to know which type of bushing is beneath yours. the repro bridge has a different sized bushing, but fits the old bushing so that works out ok.
